Philocetes, or "Phil" for short, is a satyr (a half man, half goat). He is the personal trainer of Hercules and runs the Olympus Coliseum. He can be grumpy and argumentitive at times, but equally kind and generous. He often judges people before he gets to know them. Phil's dream is to train a hero so great that the gods will create an astrological sign in the sky, and people would say "That's Phil's boy." But Phil doubts this will ever happen at times, believing is for rookies. His catchphrase is "two words" where he tells someone something, but it is in at least three words or more. Goofy often counts the words with his fingers.

Hercules

Phil lived alone on an island somewhere in Greece, where he often spied on nymphs. A young Hercules and Pegasus visit him, Hercules hoping for him to train him as a hero. Phil is at first reluctant but after Hercules asks him what his dream is, Phil allows him into his house. Phil explains his years as a trainer haven't been incredibly successful, training several known warriors like Odysseus, Perseus, Deicius (a lot of "...euses") but every one of them let him down "flatter than a discus". He also trained Achiles, but he also died thanks to a cracked heel. He revealed to Hercules that he wants to train a hero so the god's can put a picture of him across the sky. Phil trains Hercules into a hero and teaches him all he knows. Phil briefly leaves Hercules upon learning his romance interest, Megara is in a partnership with Hades. He helps a weakened Hercules defeat a Cyclops and remains with Megara while Hercules returns her soul.
