**Great cover KSM! Only thing I would change is the date as over the IRC, me and Erry agreed that we should include quarters in our naming scheme. I'd rewrite the text and change "Vol 1" to "Issue #1" so that it's more magazine-y and "June 2014" to "Q3 2014" If need be, we can add small print with the exact month and day of its release date: "Released 1st of July (UTC)". *Okay first of my ideas: a [[User:MateusinhoEX/MagazineDraft|tutorial on Flick Rush]]. Will probably make one discussion about the Real Organization XIII, like who can possibly be the other members, if the guy shown on the E3 trailer is a version of Xehanort, if Vanitas, who have the amber eyes, together with Terra-Xehanort, can be part of it and things like that. Opinions, please :) - {{User:MateusinhoEX/SigTemplate}} 01:43, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
**The tutorial would go under the Dive to the Heart page. As for the theories, they sound interesting so maybe write a draft? {{User:TheFifteenthMember/Sig1}} 02:56, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
***The game tutorial was still missing, eh? Okay, if you want, we can put the Flick Rush one there. I read your talk with ENX and personally loved the idea of him writing possible stories for the untold ones (maybe those are the ones said to be explained in the new Re:Coded cutscenes in 2.5, I don't know). I will write up a draft for the possible True Organization members and maybe also one on questions that are left open on the series (like one of the things I probably will never understand: why after all that trouble with Master Xehanort, Mickey didn't suspected when met Ansem's apprentice that had the same name?). Hey, maybe this is one other story ENX can write about: the full travel of Young Xehanort trough time, showing when, where and how he encountered and recruited the members of the True Organization XIII we know so far. - {{User:MateusinhoEX/SigTemplate}} 13:27, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
****Depending on how long ENX's draft is, I'm thinking that the Keyblade Master page could have multiple columns so it's more dynamic. I'll bring it up later. {{User:TheFifteenthMember/Sig1}} 13:50, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
*****If people want to read my concept (which is still in development) for the Riku/Mickey "game", they need only read [http://kingdomhearts.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:EternalNothingnessXIII/My_Next_Creative_Project_-_Help_Wanted_and_Ideas_Needed! this]. As for the Xehanort/Eraqus story, it actually takes place ''after'' Young Xehanort returned to his proper place in time in ''KH3D''. It basically details the brotherhood of Eraqus and Xehanort and how that falls apart as Xehanort is tempted by the darkness on his travels. I may include some elements of ''KH3D'' and Young Xehanort's involvement, but it primarily focuses on the time before ''BBS'', where things such as Xehanort discarding his Keyblade Armor to control the darkness are seen. Both of these projects are in the early development stage, and I'd love some helping working a cohesive plot out with someone. Maybe only one story can be featured in this issue. Maybe both can, or maybe neither, in which case I'll contribute some other way. But I'd love to share my ideas with the Wiki, for sure! - {{User:EternalNothingnessXIII/Sig}} 16:29, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
******I can't help much with the development, ENX (I haven't played past Re:CoM) but, if you were willing to, you could split your ideas over the next couple issues and turn them into a mini series. I think it would be really interesting to have a series on an original concept like yours to kick off our first issues. :) {{User:FinalRest/Sig}} 04:24, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
*******That's an interesting idea, one concept per issue, perhaps. MateusinhoEX actually agreed to help with development; he seems most interested in my Riku/Mickey story. More help is always welcome. - {{User:EternalNothingnessXIII/Sig}} 04:47, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
*******Well, it's not exactly that I like more Riku/Mickey stiry, but it's because I haven't played BBS yet, so I don't know much about Xehanort's history. That's why I have more idea's to the other one. Still, I got an idea: since we're introducing new Disney Worlds, and the history will be split in vatious issues, what about finishing an issue right were the first new Disney World is introduced and then put a message like "''And from now on, you can help write this history. Send your own opinions and ideas about it, and if you want, also send a possibly new history for this Disney World. We will look at your ideas, and who knows, maybe it can make part of the next issue of the KHWiki Magazine!''", or something like that. I think this would get some attention from other users, which would want to help. For now, I think they could help only creating the Disney histories, since they are always based on the original movies happenings, which means people wouldn't come with anything very strange. What do you think? - {{User:MateusinhoEX/SigTemplate}} 13:52, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
********What we ''could'' do is pick a concept (let's say, the Riku/Mickey story) and, as you suggested, spread it out across the issues. Then, when that one is done, we could see about continuing with the Eraqus/Xehanort story. I like the idea of asking for ideas/opinions from our readers, but, as these are my creative projects I'm sharing, I'd like to oversee what goes into the story itself, if possible. We could divide the story this way: the first issue would be the start of the story, to perhaps the first Disney World (I think Ancient Kingdom, the ''The Emperor's New Groove'' world). Then it could be like, "Tune in next time for the next part of the story" or something like that. We would then continue with the next world's events, and so on. Again, I just want to make sure that what goes in the magazine adheres to my original vision. This is a game concept, so ideas for gameplay systems would be needed, as well. There are central themes to the story that should be demonstrated as often as possible, et cetera. So yeah. Perhaps have a section asking for ideas/opinions on various things, I could overview the opinions with a couple people, and then the best ones would be considered for being used in the story/gameplay (credit should be given somewhere to the contributors of new ideas). Sorry to sound so defensive/overprotective; these projects ''are'' my "babies," after all :P Oh, and one more thing....perhaps we could just focus on individual aspects of the concept. For instance, let's say we wanted to describe a new gameplay system someone comes up with that adheres to my "connected but separate"/"separate but connected" dual-theme. We could "take a break from the story" to describe it in full, then say, "We'll return to the story of <insert title of project here> in our next issue!" - {{User:EternalNothingnessXIII/Sig}} 16:55, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
A mini-series sounds like the way to go; each entry could have an introduction at the beginning explaining what the mini-series is about (in case there's a newcomer who hasn't read the previous issue) and in the introduction, you could add a sentence like "Contact [[User talk:EternalNothingnessXIII|ENX]] if you have any ideas to feedback to him!". Do remember that each new issue would be released after three months so you'd be wanting to make each entry quite chunky so perhaps clustering a few worlds together would be better, unless your ideas for just one world is long enough. Also, you could describe your gameplay system like this. After the story is complete, you put a dotted line (<nowiki>-----</nowiki>) or some other break and you write something like "At the end of this world, Riku/Mickey obtains...<nowiki><Insert gameplay feature here></nowiki>". And then you can go on to explain the mechanic. What do you think? {{User:TheFifteenthMember/Sig1}} 21:25, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
::Yes, that could work. I can write a lot, but only if I have the ideas for such things. That's why the "Ideas for ENX" section would be brilliant. If someone has an idea I like, I could then add it to the story of the world in the next issue. For example, let's say the first issue talks about the intro of the game and then the trip to the ''Pocahontas'' world. At the bottom, it could say, "Contact ENX if you have ideas for Riku/Mickey's adventure in the <insert world name here> world! They may be featured in the next issue and become part of the tale!" And well, I don't have many ideas for gameplay; that's something that I'd be asking for ideas for. But once I had a system, I may want to spend an issue talking about it. Or at least part of an issue. And as far as, "After Riku/Mickey does this, they get that as a reward," I'd include that in the story. For instance, "After Mickey beats Governor Ratcliffe, he obtains the Colors of the Wind Keyblade." What I have as far as these concepts go is a skeleton. I need help from others to flesh it out. - {{User:EternalNothingnessXIII/Sig}} 21:38, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
I know exaclty what you mean, ENX. What I wanted is for people to give IDEAS to the history, not that all ideas would be implemented. Someone may come up with something good for you, after all. I just didn't made it clear. That's what I wanted to say with "'''and who knows, maybe it can'''". We don't say users we will surely put their ideas on the next issue, just that they can try to help, and that you, the main brain behind the story, will see what fits in it or not. And don't worry, you didn't sounded defensive :).
Anyway, about gameplay, I was thinking who will be the main enemies on Xehanort's history, since Heartless haven't gone to the Realm of Light yet, neither do the unversed. I was also thinking that maybe, Eraqus could also be playable. Using ''The Emperor's New Groove'' as the first world sounds awesome, since I watched that movie a lot of times and can give a great help on it's story. Let's put the points we have here for now:
*Riku/Mickey game:
#Riku and Mickey will be playable.
#The game will be divided in scenarios. Riku will have one for KH, one for the travels with Mickey, one for the search for Roxas and one last for the Riku-Ansem part. Mickey will have one for the Realm of Darkness part, one for the travels with Riku and one for the travels in KH2. The travels of both could be only one scenario in which both are playable.
#IN their first scenarios, their gameplays would be totally separate. Riku would use only dark powers and Mickey only of light. In the travels together, they can aquire a bar just like the Drive one, which allows them to link their powers and become stronger.
#The command system could be a command menu different for both of them. Riku would have "attack, items, powers (which would include Dark Aura, Dark Firaga and things like that), items and a fourth slot. In the first scenario, this could be Transform, that allows him to enter Dark Mode (this includes having a a bar for this) or maybe a "Summon", that allows him to summon Heartless after he aquires this ability. In others, this would be "Link", to allow him join powers with Mickey. Mickey menu would be the same, but with other powers.
#Abilities would be used and reaction commands could return.
I'm without time now, so I will put more ideas latter. Hopes this helps. I can even try to design the bars and HUD later! - {{User:MateusinhoEX/SigTemplate}} 23:40, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
Bars and HUD would be great! Anyways, here's my commentary:
*I was definitely thinking of separate scenarios for Mickey and Riku; sometimes they would join together so both characters could be playable.
*What you have down for gameplay is excellent. We need to remember that it must reflect the themes of "connected but separate"/"separate but connected," as must the plot. The game concept's tagline, "Hearts connected by light are divided in darkness," should also be taken into consideration.
**To explain, this is primarily a story of the trust that builds between Riku and Mickey. The strength of that trust determines the gameplay, perhaps. As far as how it impacts the plot, even if Mickey and Riku are separated, they know they have each other for support. This explains "separate but connected." At other times, they may be together, but their bond may be suffering, thus their trust is weakened. This would explain "connected but separate." As far as the tagline, remember that Mickey turned Riku towards the light when he first met him after the events in Hollow Bastion in ''KH''. But something happens from time to time to separate Mickey and Riku from each other. Sometimes, the separation is voluntary, such as the scene from the ''Re:CoM'' ''Reverse/Rebirth'' credits in which Riku leaves Mickey behind to conquer his darkness alone (the two don't reunite until ''358/2 Days'').
*Perhaps during Riku's ''KH'' scenario, he teams up with Disney Villains to fight Disney heroes.
*The trips to the Lost Worlds would be split into two. For instance: Mickey would visit the first batch on his search for the Kingdom Key D, and then maybe the rest following the events of ''KH:CoM''.
**Riku would visit the first batch after he closes the Door to Darkness. Somehow this would lead him to Castle Oblivion. He would visit the second batch of Lost Worlds, perhaps to try conquering his darkness, after ''KH:CoM''. He would fail, returning to the Realm of Light in time for the events of ''358/2 Days''.
*Something I'd like to discuss is what would Riku obtain in the Lost Worlds as a reward instead of Keyblades, since the Soul Eater isn't one in my opinion and wouldn't have Keychains? Maybe he'd get special abilities or something while Mickey would get Keyblades? Riku wouldn't get other Keyblades until after he obtained Way to the Dawn. Maybe he could return to the Lost Worlds he visited while wielding the Soul Eater in the post-game to obtain the Keyblades from those worlds.
I feel like I'm forgetting to mention some things here, but I'm pressed for time right now, too. If I think of anything else, I'll add it to this page. Or perhaps, even better, I'll create a page in my userspace for discussion on this game concept. - {{User:EternalNothingnessXIII/Sig}} 00:31, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
I'm no expert in fanfics (a testament to that is all my ideas lying in a Keyblade Graveyard of abandonment on the Fanon Wiki), but might I suggest a few things:
*Yes, I could see a recurring thing going on here over several issues. I assume we're giving you your own section, which I'll add later. Along with however many sections we're going to end up adding. I like it!
*Consider inverting the tagline to say "Hearts divided in darkness are connected by light". That way, it portrays hope rather than despair when the end of the tagline is reached. Minor detail, though, what could it possibly do?
*As a part of your Xehanort History plot, Atlantica has to be worked in there, somehow. Because then we have the answer to the eternal question "How did Triton know of the keyblade, then?" (Thanks alot, ''Birth by Sleep'', you totally blew that one.) Perhaps based on ''The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning''. Of course, how to twist that into a Kingdom Hearts setting would be interesting to see.
*Lost worlds? Like worlds lost to the darkness? Kind of like the Dream Realm, except they didn't come out of the darkness at all, right? Or did I misunderstand that? If that's the case, it should probably be all new worlds. Except Traverse Town, maybe an explanation as to how it ended up in the darkness and needed to go to sleep in the first place would be in order. (Thanks alot, ''Dream Drop Distance'', you totally confused us on that one).
*Game play elements in a story. Consider reading [http://www.fanfiction.net/s/9224374/1/Kingdom-Hearts-III this fanfic]. I think it's pretty decent as far as integrating much of the gameplay elements in the story. If that's what you're going for, anyways, I might have misinterpreted it. Plus, it's a good read, too, for a Kingdom Hearts III story.
*How do you want the comments/suggestions for your concept to be organized? Do you want us to redirect to your userspace? An email? Or anything else?
That's it! It's a really interesting concept you've got here, ENX, and I can't wait to see it come to fruition. I urge both you and MEX to come and help us finish the magazine details on the [[Forum:Magazine and Podcast!#Crunch Time|Project Forum]], too. {{KeybladeSpyMaster/Sig}} 05:18, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
Here's my commentary/explanations/discussion on what you've posted, KSM:
*I think my own section is what was being discussed, yes. I don't know if I'd be taking up the whole "Keyblade Master" page or not. I'd feel kinda bad for hogging the page if I wasn't...
*Hmm...I never considered inverting the tagline, but I like the idea of creating a sense of hope by doing so.
*The "Xehanort History" game concept is separate from the Riku/Mickey one. Thus I feel it doesn't need to be discussed until that one is finished. But yes, Atlantica (or at least King Triton) should appear somehow so that line can make sense. Something ''Ariel's Beginning''-esuqe could work.
*The Lost Worlds are definitely a more severe case than the Sleeping Worlds. They are worlds whose hearts have given in to the darkness, thus putting themselves and their residents in danger (the worlds and their residents are doomed to vanish forever in the Realm of Darkness unless returned to the light by Keyblade wielders). A world's heart becomes vulnerable to darkness when the strongest heart of light from it is removed, which is why the Castle of Dreams appears before Aqua in the Realm of Darkness in ''BBSFM''.  By that point, Cinderella had been kidnapped by Maleficent during the events of ''KH''. As the strongest heart of light from that world, without Cinderella, the Castle of Dreams became corrupt and sank into darkness. Basically Lost Worlds can conveniently explain why worlds like Dwarf Woodlands and Enchanted Dominion don't get restored in the events of ''KH'' like other worlds do/might.
*Thanks for sending me the link to that fanfic. It's really well-written from the parts I've skimmed through, exactly like what I want my concepts to be in the magazine. I'll read over it in full when I have the time.
*You could either give a link to my talk page, or perhaps something else on the Wiki (a part of the magazine?) that I haven't thought of yet. I'd rather keep personal things such as my e-mail free for my own use.
Thanks for your kind words and support. I'll see what I can do on the forum. - {{User:EternalNothingnessXIII/Sig}} 15:11, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
::Just so people know, I have started working on the concept for the Riku/Mickey "game" in my [[User:EternalNothingnessXIII/Sandbox|Sandbox]]. I have 3/4 of Mickey's story written out there (minus his role in the various Lost Worlds), plus a few gameplay concepts listed. So we don't continue to clog this page with ideas and concepts for the "game," I would appreciate it if we could all continue our discussions regarding the concept and developing/improving/expanding it on my Sandbox's talk page. Thank you! - {{User:EternalNothingnessXIII/Sig}} 22:04, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
:::If it's fine with you, then, ENX, I'll put in the magazine to have people send suggestions in your Sandbox's talk page. Or we could have a discussion section on the Sandbox page, at the bottom or something. Since this is ''your'' concept and its ''your'' sandbox, I feel you should decide where you want this information/suggestions, rather than us assigning this to you or something of the sort. {{KeybladeSpyMaster/Sig}} 22:14, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
::::People are welcome to comment/discuss things on the Sandbox's talk page; the reason why I said to send the suggestions to my regular talk page was so that I would see the ideas/suggestions that are sent to me (I probably won't use or check the sandbox daily, but seeing the "new messages" notification when I log in each day is sure to grab my attention). Since it's only certain areas of the concept that I'm struggling with (I literally cranked out 3/4 of Mickey's story in 45 minutes yesterday), perhaps we would only have the ideas/suggestions option if I was looking for help in a specific area at any given time. ''Then'' we could redirect people to my talk page with those ideas and such. For example, let's say I go two issues' worth of stories not needing any help, but I have writer's block when Mickey/Riku needs to visit the ''Pocahontas'' world. I could then say in the issue leading up to that, "If you have any ideas for <insert item here>, please contact [[User talk:EternalNothingnessXIII|ENX]]!" If there are certain concepts for the main plot (not the Disney worlds) that I'm struggling with (such as how Riku gets Way to the Dawn, let's say...) then that's a different story (though, now that I think about it, so long as it was done in advance, I could still ask for ideas in on an as-needed basis...). - {{User:EternalNothingnessXIII/Sig}} 22:34, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
So I'm a little concerned, everyone. I read on the magazine forum that all entries are due by July 1st. However. I have not been able to have any of the "developers' chats" with those interested in helping me like I wanted to since I first signed up to contribute my game concepts to the magazine. Therefore, I only have a sub-concrete, incomplete skeleton of Mickey's story for the "Mickey/Riku" game (which, by the way, needs commentary and such), and nothing else. Normally, this wouldn't concern me, since I still have a bit of time, it would look like, to get things together. However, I will be leaving for a two-week trip to Disney World this coming Wednesday that will keep me there well past the 1st of July. I will also have minimal to no computer access during this time. Rather than rush to get things done or have stuff I'm not satisfied with get published, I was wondering if perhaps the first issue of the magazine could feature a "trailer" of sorts for the upcoming game/story concept? - {{User:EternalNothingnessXIII/Sig}} 01:15, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
I think a trailer of sorts is a great idea. It's fine if it isn't done for this issue, we've got plenty more coming up. ChainofFire (our new Editor in Chief) has asked yesterday to email everything by Thursday, giving him time to review it all and plug it in the Magazine by the 1st of July (next Tuesday), so if you could have your trailer ready by Thursday, that will be perfect. {{KeybladeSpyMaster/Sig}} 01:19, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

*I made a [http://i.imgur.com/Py4YPWC.png silhouette] of a Large Body (that's right, the most exotic Heartless ever) but it's crudely done so I think this is a job for people with Photoshop. {{User:TheFifteenthMember/Sig1}} 22:25, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
*How is [https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-f1SVSDQ3LNk/U1Wssa_1E8I/AAAAAAAAAB0/p2VVyKq7QrI/w903-h799-no/Large_Body_KHX_Silhouette.png this]? I made it with the KHX image, and Photoshop. I don't know if that's what you wanted. {{KeybladeSpyMaster/Sig}} 23:43, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
**That's much better! We could use that for July's issue unless someone wants to do a more difficult Heartless (though I think we should keep it simple for the first issue). Only thing I would say is we should stick to the most recognisable game models (KH1/KH2) because not many people play KHX extensively. {{User:TheFifteenthMember/Sig1}} 08:08, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
***I used the KHX image because it was cleaner than the KH silhouette. It was also more of a "Is this what you're looking for" kind of post. I'm sure people will identify the Heartless if we use their KHX images, but that's just a thought. {{KeybladeSpyMaster/Sig}} 02:33, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

*I'm starting a draft [[User:Chainoffire/Sandbox|Here]], <s>but how do you people do polls?</s> Also, should we have a game task for each game? or just one game task? {{User:Chainoffire/sig}} 02:41, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
:I used a sample poll, tell me how the page looks! {{User:Chainoffire/sig}} 02:41, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
::I voted on it, and it looks good! {{KeybladeSpyMaster/Sig}} 03:23, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

So what are we going to do about the first mailbag? Also, how are we going to "prove success in the task?" Besides that, I think this page is set! {{User:Chainoffire/sig}} 03:59, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
Also, do we want a place to put the winner of the previous poll? {{User:Chainoffire/sig}} 04:26, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

Revision as of 23:04, 2 July 2014

Heard about the new magazine hosted on KHWiki.com and The Keyhole and want to get involved in writing it? Here at the Journalist Spot, you can give us ideas and article entries that we can use in our next issue.

How It Works

To begin with, you must be a registered user with a minimum of 100 total edits (check here).

Once you have that, you can sign-up to do any of the below but remember that it is your responsibility to complete anything you have signed up to at least a week before release. Fortunately, there's plenty of help along the way! Once you've signed up to something, you can share ideas about your topic below in the "Discussion" section. Then, other users will feedback and develop your ideas by giving their own thoughts and opinions so that you have enough inspiration to write your entire piece. If you are doing an interview, debate battle or podcast, work with your partner(s) at an off-Wiki location, such as the IRC or by email.

After you have a first draft, email it to "kingdomheartswikibcrat@gmail.com" so that the Editor in Chief can review your work, fix any mistakes and give you any advice that you might need. Please refrain from posting any drafts on the Wiki to prevent ruining the surprise and satisfaction at the end result. Remember to update your status in the sign-up section and again, ensure that you email your work at least a week before release so that there is time to fix any potential issues.

Sign-Up

Found something you want to do? Sign-up under the bullet point you wish to do. If you have any questions, feel free to ask the Editor in Chief or the Deputy in Chief! Remember to submit your final work to the wiki's email for review!
