Vanitas appears as a boss in Terra, Ventus, and Aqua's storylines in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. In Terra's storyline, he only fight Vanitas once,when he is with Master Xehanort at the Keyblade Graveyard, but the battle stops halfway. Ventus fights Vanitas four times in the game: Three of them are fought at the Keyblade Graveyard, the second after the first with mickey and the third towards the end. Vanitas is Ven's final boss and he fights him in his Awakening. Aqua fights Vanitas three times in the game: once at Neverland, once at Radiant Garden, and one last time alongside Mickey in the Keyblade Graveyard, where Vanitas wields the completed X-Blade.
