Counterguard (ガードカウンター Gādo Kauntā, lit. "Guard Counter") is an ability found in Kingdom Hearts II and costs 4 AP. It is the replacement for Counterattack from the first Kingdom Hearts. It is meant to be used in conjunction with the Guard ability. After Sora guards and successfully blocks an attack, pressing 
immediately afterwards will result in Sora counterattacking with a small burst of light, which can be followed by a regular attack of his own. It is learned by defeating Hades in Kingdom Hearts II or by defeating Cerberus in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix+.
