The concept of Assists comes from both Dissidia 012' s Assist System and Birth By Sleep' s D-Link System. Assists are allies that can be summoned in battle, but for that they need their Assist Gauge to be filled. It is filled by inputting various actions (for example, parrying an HP Attack, or dealing a very long combo...) Once the Assist is summoned, he acts as a non-controllable ally that also attacks the enemy. The Assist Gauge progressively disappears as the ally acts. Under specific conditions (similar to FFXII's Esper System) the ally may unleash a powerful attack and disappear afterward. This attack is called a "Finisher".

Assists gain levels as they are used. There are five levels. Each level grants bonuses both to the Assist (giving him a slight stat bonus and new attacks, as well as passive skills) and to the Player (by giving him special Passive Abilities)

Donald

Donald's Assist is perhaps the best Magic-oriented assist : Donald continuously throws a barrage of spells at the opponent. Most of those spells are inspired from Chain of Memories's Magical Sleights.

Aqua Splash Ground Level 2 Summons multiple water bursts under the enemy, dealing medium Ice damage.
Tornado Ground Level 4 Surrounds self with an attracting tornado. Deals Wind damage.
Homing Blizzara Aerial Level 1 Shoots a powerful chunk of ice that chases the enemy erratically. Deals Ice damage.
Firaga Burst Aerial Level 3 Sends several fireballs from above towards the enemy. Deals Fire damage.
Holy Aerial Level 5 Shoots several bursts of light that home in the enemy. Deals Light damage.

HP Attacks

Move Type Obtained Description
Ultima (Ground) Ground Level 1 Sends multiple indigo spheres towards the enemy. These spheres can be guarded easily, but once one hits the opponent, he is locked for the rest of the attack.
Raging Storm Ground Level 3 Summons three fiery tornadoes that draw the foe near. Brave hits deal Fire/Wind damage.
Freeze Aerial Level 1 Attempts to crush the enemy between multiple icicles. If it succeeds, the opponent is trapped in a block of ice that slowly falls, dealing progressive damage - it only deals HP damage when hitting the ground and shattering. That damage counts as Ice damage.
Ultima (Midair) Aerial Level 5 Sends multiple indigo spheres towards the enemy. These spheres can be guarded easily, but once one hits the opponent, he is locked for the rest of the attack.

Finisher

When its user enters Ex Mode, Donald uses his Finisher, Fantasia, sending multiple fireworks towards the enemy. They home in so quickly that the opponent doesn't have the time to escape : he is crushed by multiple colored explosions

Goofy

Goofy's assist focuses on protecting his caller at the cost of his life. His attacks act as annoyances to the enemy to distract him from the player.

Goofy Tornado Aerial Level 1 Attracts the enemy by spinning multiple times.

Goofy Bash Aerial Level 5 Throws shield towards the enemy, making it boomerang back after a throw. Initiates Chase.

Finisher

When its user parries a HP attack, Goofy follows with his Save the King finisher : he strikes the enemy with multiple attacks that look like all his attacks quickly chained together, then spins a last time and creates massive explosions around him, dealing HP damage.

Stitch

Stitch uses multiple thunder-based attacks in a quick succession to stun the enemy and gain the upper hand in battle.

Stun Buster Aerial Level 5 Stitch shoots once at the enemy with his blaster. It is so quick that it can't be seen, and inflicts minimal or no damage, but its excellent priority allows it to interrupt most attacks.

Gigawatt Shock Ground Level 3 Stitch surrounds himself with thunder that strikes in all directions around him. Bravery hits deal Thunder damage.
Ohana Blast Aerial Level 1 Stitch surrounds himself with a soundwave before dashing towards the enemy and releasing it, forming a circular explosion around him.
Random Beam (Midair) Aerial Level 5 Sends a green beam of energy towards the enemy. Long starting time but almost no cooldown.

Finisher

Stitch, upon Jolting the enemy. will use Ohana Beat, summoning multiple sound-shaped shockwaves that will draw the opponent in while damaging him, and Stitch will use a Ukulele as a weapon to end the attack by "shattering" the shockwaves and throwing the enemy away.

Finisher

When the player is left with 1 HP, Peter Pan will use the Finisher Neverland, attacking the enemy from all sides, dashing so quickly that he can't be seen. It deals great damage before dealing the HP blow.

Zack

Zack's Assist is focused on powerful, offensive physical attacks that crush barriers and assault the enemy. He lacks defensive and magical abilities (Except some weak Fire spells) but he will inflict a lot of damage.

Finisher

Zack uses Hero's Pride as a Finisher, and only uses it when inflicting Break on the enemy. He will warp before striking the enemy several times from all sides before warping directly above the enemy and dealing the final hit that deals HP damage. The combo before the HP hit deals Dark damage.

Pete's Assist focuses on chaotic and unpredictable attacks that inflict multiple status effects. He is annoying as an opponent, because his attacks are hard to dodge.

Temper Tantrum Aerial Level 1 Pete slams himself to the ground, dealing Brave Damage and crushing the enemy.

Fruit Shot (Ground) Ground Level 1 Pete jumps and kicks in a giant fruit, making it bounce on the enemy and kicking it again twice (dealing Brave damage) before slamming it on the enemy with full power, dealing HP Damage.
Devious Smash Ground Level 5 Pete turns into "Captain Dark" and summons a dark aura with quite a short range, but that is quite quick, and blinds the enemy temporarly upon impact.
Justice Slam Ground Level 1 Pete turns into "Captain Justice" and attacks the enemy several times while imbued with Light.
Fruit Shot (Midair) Aerial Level 3 Pete jumps and kicks in a giant fruit, making it bounce on the enemy and kicking it again twice (dealing Brave damage) before slamming it on the enemy with full power, dealing HP Damage.

Finisher

Pete of course uses his Rumble Rave as a finisher, as a 50% chance when the opponent is inflicted a status effect. It causes him to get into Captain Dark's cart and dash at the enemy madly, increasing his bravery with each hit before the Rumble Rave explodes, dealing massive HP damage.
