KHWiki:Sources

From the Kingdom Hearts Wiki, the Kingdom Hearts encyclopedia
Jump to navigationJump to search

This Sources page provides a brief explanation of where the information on the Kingdom Hearts wiki actually comes from in the absence of explicit reference tags.

Standard sources

  1. The games themselves - The most common sources of information are the games in the Kingdom Hearts series. When there is no in-line citation, most basic information can be assumed to be sourced from the games, such as major plot elements, journal entries, and item stats. More specific in-game information, such as individual lines of dialogue or glossary entries, will typically be cited with a ref tag. Story sections might also use {{Storylink}} to clarify which game the information came from.
  2. Ultimanias - The Kingdom Hearts Ultimania are the number one source of information outside of the games. Most numbers that aren't visible to the player are sourced from the Ultimanias, such as ability stats, enemy stats and attacks, and hidden item stats. Typically, the Ultimania is only explicitly cited when using information from interviews.

Common exceptions

  1. English guidebooks - Many stats were altered for the international PS2 releases of Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II. Information about these specific versions is taken from officially-licensed English-language guidebooks. In all other cases, the Ultimanias are preferred.
  2. Game files - Certain games and updates are not covered in any Ultimania, so information is taken from the internal game files. The only substantial uses of game code are for Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind attack and enemy stats and Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory item-related stats. There are other minor uses, such as the names the names of specific inaccessible rooms (such as the Japanese name for the End of Sea or one-time boss arenas).

Other sources

Each individual use of non-standard sources should be cited with ref tags. The requirement for verifiable sources is provided in Help:Editing; common examples include staff interviews, official websites, and official social media accounts.
