Eye color[edit]

Figured it was better to bring it to the talk page myself. So, the reason this page keeps getting edit warred is because of the change from "aquamarine" to "aquamarine blue". I agree with the first undo-er's reasoning that adding "blue" to "aquamarine" seems like an unnecessary addition, as aquamarine is a blue color. The latest user who edited informed me that there actually is a color called "aquamarine blue" (P.S. I'm not color-blind, but thanks for the concern). I tried searching the name of the color of the specific hex code, but every site seems to give different result (ranging from "charlotte" to "kawaii teal" to "permafrost"). Looking at our own Color codes, it does seem aquamarine is more green-ish. Searching for "aquamarine blue" also gives varying results, with one image making it also look too green, and another matching a little more. However, I also found a color referred to as "aquamarine (Crayola)" that more closely fits the actual eye color.

So, the question is: first of all, who comes up with the names for colors? But more importantly, what color is best used to describe Vali's eye color? I feel like we should keep it simple, even if it's not an exact match, so rather just "turquoise" instead of "turquoise aqua blue", for example. TheSilentHero 14:04, July 6, 2026 (UTC)

Aquamarine as a color name comes from the gemstone called aquamarine, which itself has a range of colors, but on average looks exactly like Vali's eyes. The wikipedia page for Aquamarine (color) also shows multiple colors labeled as "Aquamarine", so clearly there's some variation and it doesn't describe one single tone. So I think just "aquamarine" is an accurate descriptor, but I'd rather call it "light blue" than getting so specific as "aquamarine blue".

(Also, while we don't know if the guy in the KH4 teaser is actually Vali (and I wrote the "aquamarine" description before it came out), I feel it's worth noting that this person's eyes are slightly more green than Vali's in Dark Road, and closer to the greener aquamarine. So, if that is confirmed to be him, then I'd think it should be changed back to just "aquamarine" even if we put it as "aquamarine blue" or "light blue" now.) Regarding your Eye Color discussion[edit]

If we are settling for one color, then Cyan feels more accurate than Turquoise (Since Vali's eyes lean more blue than green).

That said, you're right that Aquamarine is multiple colors and not just one, so if you're using Aquamarine the same way Cyan and Blue-Gray are a variety of colors rather than one color, then i understand. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lann030 (talkcontribs)

I wouldn't mind changing it to cyan, as I feel that name is less contentious. - Joseph Thorn Dalton XCVSymbol Character - Vanitas.png 15:33, July 7, 2026 (UTC)
Just realized I never replied to this discussion. I feel using cyan is a good solution. TheSilentHero 13:46, July 31, 2026 (UTC)
