High-Speed Step

High-Speed Step (高速ステップ, Kōsoku Suteppu) is a technique introduced in Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories. It allows the user to dodge attacks with a dash.

Mechanics

In Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, High-Speed Step is an ability that is executed by double-tapping the control pad in a direction during battle. When used, Riku dashes forwards while twisting himself backwards; in Dark Mode, it also leaves afterimages in its wake.

In Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, High-Speed Step is an ability that is executed by pressing , and can used during and outside of battle. When in normal form, Riku rolls forward with his left palm on the ground and then handsprings back on his feet. When used in Dark Mode, Riku dashes forwards with a spin at the end, with a blur effect around him, similarly to Quick Run from Kingdom Hearts II.

In combat, High-Speed Step grants invulnerability for about as long as Riku's feet are off the ground. In Dark Mode, the movement speed is increased, but no invulnerability is given.
