Malevolence Crystalised - Okay who stole my Sketchbook?
Welcome to Maleovolence Crystalised's Second Talk About Policy. this Subject is Debateable

As You all see most Users Complain about The IRC is Rather The Only Place so we can socialise and Talk to each other. So if that is the case. Q? and A! why we should say no to this

  • Q? Why are there Talk Pages. A! So we can talk to each other.

Q? A! why we sould continue this Policy

  • Q? Why cant we talk to each other on Their Talk page? A! Because Talk Page Edits Floods the wiki!

Reasons why we should not coninue this policy

  • My Parents Dont want me to got to The IRC untill im <insert age here>. So why cant i chat with other peoples on their Talk pages? (to Users in this case it may seem very unfair to them.)
  • Some Users Have a Problem with there Computer, Laptop, etc. which results into a Disadvantage for them to Join The IRC.

Resons Why we should Continue This Policy

  • Because Users Edits increase because of talking on their talk page or other users Talk Page.

Well Its all Users in KH wiki to decide. okay back to editing Disgaea wiki... What will happen if this will continue?

  • We Can talk to users on their Talkpages but only if its about editing or important stuff or Exterminate all Talk pages.
  • We Can talk on the KH conversation wiki Firaga44 made. <- This one And dont ask Q? bout this one.
  • We Can stil visit Forums.
  • Please edit this with your idea

Users who would like to discontinue this policy[edit]

TALK - whatever.
well i dont think this is a good idea....

User who would like to continue this policy[edit]

OPXion4EverIcon.png I strongly agree to keep this policy. The IRC channel was created exactly for this reason; we've discussed this topic numerous times. Many users were using the Wiki as a MySpace/Facebook and talking about irrelevant topics that didn't pertain to Kingdom Hearts. Problems with this were that users were moving up in the community list and such due to talk page edits. This differs from the mission Wikis/Wikias have! Also, you couldn't even look at the Recent Changes without having to search through the flood of talk page/blog edits. Socializing is a nice and fun thing to do, but it should be kept on the IRC channel.

Past Discussions

  • User:BebopKate/Sandbox :"User Talk Pages are, as the name indicates, for communicating directly with a specific user. It should be used to ask questions about wiki subjects only and relating to that user, such as their recent edits, ongoing projects, current uploads, or similar questions. It can also be used to ask a specific user for assistance.

User Talk Pages are not discussion pages! Conversations of a non-wiki nature belong in the Twilight Town Library Forum or IRC. You may leave a brief message on a User Talk page asking someone to join you in either."

  • KHWiki:IRC :"The Kingdom Hearts Wiki's IRC channel is the wiki's main mode of socializing. It is used for chit-chat and is also a different and quicker way to notify a staff about a problem with the wiki."

Past Forum Posts

This is the same reason we removed the blogs- they were very trivial and unnecessary. This is a wiki, not a Facebook/MySpace/blog! Granted some users cannot get into the IRC channel. With some persistance they might, a few users here once had problems getting into the IRC, now they're able to get on. (Example: Andie). Also, if safety is a concern for parents (I know mine were -_-) the KH Wiki IRC channel is one of the safest internet chatrooms. We have numerous Ops who are on most of the day who keep the behavior in check. No major problems have been reported or verbal bashings/degradation from other users in months.

Don't believe the past problems with talkpages? Go here and type in a few usernames, I'm not going to name names but THIS is why we removed blogs and created the IRC channel. One user had 2,937 edits to talk pages and 543 edits to the mainspace! If users want to talk about irrelevant topics that differ from Kingdom Hearts/editing help/invitation to the IRC they can do so through e-mail, online social networking sites, blogs or even through on-line games; this is not the place for it!

What Xion said, pretty much.

This was something the wiki as a whole decided on ages ago, as casual conversation was getting to be too much to handle in combination with wiki duties. Now, we're not going to play Talk Page police and strike down everyone who has gets a little off-topic; goodness knows we all do once in a while. But if we notice a lot of talk page activity, and none of it for the talk page's intended purpose, someone will call you out on it.

As for the IRC and our younger users, many of us understand and are sympathetic (and as much as we'd like to have you, good on your parents for caring enough to keep an eye on you and keep you safe! ^_^) At some point in the future, Wikia has mentioned playing with more BBS-style forums; while I don't know how they'll work in conjunction with the wiki itself, it's likely that might provide an additional outlet to the social aspects of the wiki that will allow younger editors or IRC-phobes a better way to socialize. It's just something we have to wait on, unfortunately.

I think talk pages should be used only for wiki related conversation or very fast and small "non-wiki related" conversation. The rest goes to IRC. Pretty much what xion said.

Talk_Bubble_Legend_zpsa9c4698c.png Wait, I know a lot of users have a rule about chatting on their talk pages, but is this actually a policy?

Yup, 'twas decided on ages ago. However, we realize it's not widely known and we're trying to rectify that, along with clarifying some other rules.

OPXion4EverIcon.png What war? This was decided upon a long time ago, but was brought up again as a reminder. There is no war, IRC channel exists for main talk. All other irrelevant topics besides editing/help/invitation to IRC should take place on the IRC channel, case closed.
