Templates[edit]

So. Categorizing. The currentd bane of the KHWiki. Yeah, I suck at starting discussions. So, we should start with Templates. What templates do we need to delete, which ones should we keep. Any suggestion? Blue。 13:13, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

...Am going into upload-frenzy mode. prepare yourselves.--N/A
Eh, that's a... start? Blue。 13:19, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Does anyone know what the Templates such as "Template:Help Header - Feel free to make test edits below" or "Template:End box" do? Blue。 13:36, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

All template end box is |} to finish off tables and the like. Hexed
Don't the wikia coding have that already? Blue。 13:39, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
IDK. I'm too tired right now to think. GN everyone. Hexed
Eeeiiiihhhhh??? (like a Japanese) *sigh* I'll just put up which Templates I think should be deleted. - Template:Help Header - Feel free to make test edits below - Template:End box - Template:Ipwelcome - Template:Notfairuse - Template:Start box - Template:Plainlink - Template:Wikia - Template:Wikiawiki - Template:Wikipedia Blue。 13:48, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
(GAZILLION BILLION EDIT CONFLICT) Templates for deletion: (I'm not linking because I don't want even more stuff here, so bold line seperates.) ! - End box - Help Header - Feel free to make test edits below - Ipwelcome - Mushroom - Notfairuse - Plainlink - Quote - Start box - Succession box - Tname - Wikia - Wikiawiki - Wikipedia - Youtubebattle - Youtubebattleblank. --Hecko X 13:54, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Tname is quite useful for linking to templates without the need to type [[:Template:Images|Images]] Blue。 14:01, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Look at Category:Navigation templates and find the one I did not touch. That is because I think it should be deleted. How about you guys? Blue。 14:00, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm gonna take a wild stab at it before I look and say that it's the one with the princesses, which should essentially be deleted because all the princesses are gonna be placed in the same article anyway. --Hecko X 14:03, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Can we all agree upon, that the templates we no longer needed have been deleted, and that what we have left are either in use, have potential, or currenlty on a trial run? --Hecko X 14:47, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Article categories[edit]

Characters[edit]

Category:Characters is divided between Category:Human Characters and Category:Animal Characters. Sounds useless. Shouldn't it be divided between games according to first appearance? Blue。 14:20, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

I think many of them should be redone... Characters should probably be divided into: Games they appear in (all of 'em), Disney, Final Fantasy, Party (as in party members, and then remove "Allies"), Organization XIII, Character Bosses (Bosses is removed from Character, and made an independent category with Character Bosses and Heartless Bosses as sub-categories), Summons, and I think that's it. I know some of them already exist, I just mentioned all of them for good meassure. --Hecko X 15:07, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
(removed redundant commentary) I reckon that would be a good solution to all our problems, but wouldn't it be redundant to categorize Donald Duck a Disney character then categorize it again as a Kingdom Hearts character, then as Kingdom Hearts II character, then a Chain of Memories character? As for Summons, wouldn't it be a problem to put Mushu as a Disney character and then a Summon and then a (each three games) character? Or is there no limit to categorizing? What do others think? By the way, I'm probably asleep already, so see you in five, six hours if we can! Blue。 16:12, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
I’d prefer to categorize them under each game. It doesn’t seem right to have KH2 characters absent from the KH2 characters category. I’d put Mushu under KH1 summon (not character because his role is insignificant) and KH2 character, but I haven’t played CoM. I’d put Genie under both summon and character for KH1 and KH2 because he’s a summon who affects the Agrabah storyline in both games.
There's no limit to categorization. However things like Category:Summons probably shouldn't be further divided into game categories (in response to above comment), but if a character is only a summon in one game, but not another, it should just be noted on the respective article. --Hecko X 17:08, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Yes, that’s fine with me because there are relatively few summons. —Shidou 19:29, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

I'd like to ask whether it's necessary to have a Kingdom Hearts character categories, I mean, some original category character (Riku) is both an ally and a original character at the same time, there's more factors I'd like to say, but that's the main one.--N/A

There's no hurting an article with a lot of categories, it seems. Blue。 10:32, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Enemies[edit]

Now Enemies is the main category. Heartless, Nobody, Heartless Bosses as sub-categories. What more to add? Blue。 21:07, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Isn’t it redundant to have Category:Emblem Heartless and Category:Heartless in the same page? Is Category:Magic Heartless necessary? —Shidou 21:19, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
There are so few normal Heartless that we should just a single Category: Just plain old Heartless. That's the great thing about small wikis, we don't need many Categories. --BlueHighwind 03:10, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
I recognize Pureblood and Emblem as different Heartlesses so I'm letting that stay. Magic Heartless will be deleted. Blue。 05:26, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Just to confirm: If an enemy belongs to Category:Emblem Heartless or Category:Pureblood Heartless, then remove Category:Heartless? —Shidou 05:56, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Category:Emblem Heartless or Category:Pureblood Heartless must be listed under Category:Heartless as it is their parent category. Remove Category:Heartless if its inside the article, and replace with whichever type corresponds. Blue。 06:02, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

(undent) I’ve scanned Category:Heartless, so now I’m planning on scanning articles with Category:Enemies and removing the cat if the article contains any of the subcats (i.e. Category:Bosses, Category:Heartless, Category:Emblem Heartless, Category:Pureblood Heartless, Category:Nobodies, Category:Organization XIII). Shall I proceed? I apologize if I’m not being bold enough; I just want to make sure I’m not being reckless.Shidou 00:32, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

I just need to clear something up. Does the game really address or distinguish between a "Pureblood Heartless", an "Emblem Heartless" and " Magic Heartless"? Does such terms exist? Blue。 09:05, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
I’ve seen the terms “Pureblood” and “Emblem” in SAR5, but not Magic. —Shidou 01:30, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Bosses[edit]

Bosses should be made a Category under Enemies. There shouldn't be divisions between Heartless Bosses and Character Bosses. If it is a Heartless Boss, place the two categories Heartless and Bosses. If its Org XIII member, just place Categories Organization XIII and Bosses. What do you say? Blue。 07:28, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

It’s okay with me, but Category:Organization XIII is currently a subcat of Category:Enemies and Category:Bosses. I’ll remove it because I don’t think Roxas is an enemy or boss. —Shidou 00:41, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
You fight him, ergo he's an opponent, which by default makes him an enemy/boss. He's just an optional one, as I recall. --Hecko X 01:28, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Fair enough. I restored the Bosses category to Organization XIII, but not Enemies because it has Bosses as a subcat. —Shidou 02:02, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Conclusion?[edit]

So.. what's the conclusion?--N/A

There's no conclusion (yet). This discussion is on-going, and solutions are coming along as we discuss further. Blue。 07:23, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

But it doesn't hurt to list down what Categories are so far:

    • Kingdom Hearts characters
    • Kingdom Hearts II characters
    • Chain of Memories characters
    • Disney characters
    • Final Fantasy characters
    • Summons
    • Villains

  • Enemies
    • Bosses
    • Heartless
    • Nobodies
