For instrumentation, the version played in ''Kingdom Hearts'', ''Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories'', and ''Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX'' uses: trumpet, trombone, marimba, xylophone, glockenspiel, synthesizer, electric bass, several different sized steel drums, timbales, and bongos. However, for ''Kingdom Hearts III'', the instrumentation includes those previously mentioned, but introduces the following new instruments: French horns, crash cymbals, a different patch for the synthesizers, and a whistle.<!--Boy, I'm rusty on my world music instruments, please add/correct me on what may be missing! Especially on the KH3 version.-->

Although each version has a moderately fast tempo, the sixteenth note passages in the keyboard and percussion parts, and the syncopated rhythms from the melody (first found in the brass instruments) are what truly gives the piece its exciting and "adventure" tone. Each version has a similar introductory passage except ''Kingdom Hearts III''. In that version, the piece begins with the typical percussion and auxiliary instruments, but is quickly joined by a whistle. The whistle commands vary in part, but signal for additional instruments- such as the trumpets and crash cymbals to join. Additionally, the ''Kingdom Hearts III'' arrangement has primarily different synthesizers playing the sixteenth note runs. This differs from previous versions, where these runs were dominant in the mallet percussion parts. Another variation difference is found in the ''Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories'' version: the rhythm section- especially electric bass- and brass sections are more prominent and dynamically louder than the underlying sixteenth note runs from the other percussion/auxiliary instruments.
