Shan-Yu
Shan-Yu is a villain from Disney's Mulan.
Description
Shan-Yu is the leader of the Hun army, and plans to attack and take over China (The Land of Dragons). He is large and burly, and wields a blade with zigzag shaped edges. His eyes and ears over China is his pet falcon, Hayabusa. Hayabusa appears as an ominous warning to others that Shan-Yu and his army are approaching.
The movie
In Walt Disney's Mulan, Shan-Yu is the main villain, wishing to conquer China. His army, despite China's efforts, travels through the land, growing ever closer to the Imperial City. Shan-Yu's campaign brings about ruin to many villages, and one such villain is witnessed by General Shang, who realizes that his father and his men were decimated in the process.
Shan-Yu now having only to move through a mountain pass to reach the Emperor, General Shang and his small group of men make a last stand. Though it seems useless, Mulan's quick thinking in using a rocket to cause an avalanche wipes out Shan-Yu and his army.
However, though Shan-Yu is believed dead, he and several other surviving Huns rise from the snow, and make their way towards the capital. While the city celebrates, unaware of Shan-Yu's survival, the Huns make their move. But just as they move in on the Emperor, Mulan and her companions intercept him. She and Shan-Yu share a final battle on the rooftops of the palace. But again, Mulan's wit proves victorious, as Shan-Yu is sent flying on a rocket and into an entire stash of fireworks, and dies in the ensuing explosion.
Kingdom Hearts II
Shan-Yu appears in Kingdom Hearts II as the main antagonist of The Land of Dragons. Instead of Huns, he possesses an army of Heartless at his command. The story follows the movie for the most part, except the shadow of the Heartless has possessed him.
After surviving the avalanche as in the movie, he attacks the Imperial palace (though this time, there is no celebration), but is defeated by Sora, Donald, Goofy and Mulan in a climatic boss battle.
