Sounds like a plan. If the result of the pornsite or any other innapropriate results continues to happen with the !google action, just get rid of it for sure then. --http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab305/WarriorsFirestar/FotoFlexer_Photo.jpg'''[[User:SquareEnixRocks|<font color=mediumvioletred>史克威尔</font>]][[User talk:SquareEnixRocks|<font color=black>罗克斯</font>]]'''http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab305/WarriorsFirestar/FotoFlexer_Photo-1.jpg 00:49, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

Forums: Index > The Realm of Sleep > Suggestions for improving IRC bot

Based on a discussion with Adola, I have a few requests for changing the bot, and others might have more, or might have reasons why my requests should not come to pass:

  • Disable the !ed function
  • Disable the !joke sub-functions: dirty, ethnic, religion, politics, blonde
  • Disable the !hugs function

All of these produce overwhelmingly inappropriate content.

Adola was also talking about (I don't know whether it was a suggestion or hyperbole) a function that would have the bot record every use of a swearword, and report it to the ops, so that an abusive chatter could be disciplined.Glorious CHAOS! 00:15, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

Not only that, but there are other inappropriate bugs with the bot. the !google function went directly to a pornsite one time (well, that was because a user directly used !google porn >.>). Nevertheless, something like that should never be stumbledupon, especially on a channel that promotes a PG rating. Adola disabled !hugs. I removed it from the IRC page.

What Adola says:[edit]

PLEASE REFER TO [1] for future suggestions.

The !google feature uses i'm feeling lucky safe search. If you google porn, you'll get porn. if you !google porn, you'll get porn. It is EXACTLY THE SAME AS IF SOMEONE COPY PASTA'D A LINK TO PORN IN THE CHANNEL.

!google - END OF DISCUSSION.

!hugs - Removed, you can still use the !hugs function through the other bot, MasterTonberry, just PM him. (I removed because it is a bit prudish, although, I think disabling the feature is dumb, and a better way would be to simply meet users' abuse of said function with force. Although, some people just won't learn, and you can't very well ban long established members of a community for using an available feature. So, due to user stupidity, I've taken the feature off NumberXMoogle.

!jokes - Please note the red section about google. Although, if it becomes a problem, I'll resort to section !hugs.

!ed - This PM's you the response. End of discussion.

I've already implemented the curse word logging. I'll also not remove the !google feature, it's simply an extension of the user directly copy/pasting links from google him/her self. Besides, it works by the "i'm feeling lucky" feature of google searches. Therefore, googling something is oft rare to display adult results. If there is anything else to discuss, please email me. I may come back here, but I probably won't, I hate wiki editing. -xAdolax@gmail.com
