It seems there's been some misunderstanding. It seems some people think Bluer and I don't want any new staff members. Not true. We just don't think we need quite so many, even with Birth by Sleep rearing its head. If we do, than we'll add more and both eat a piece of humble pie. It's made of old newspaper. And humble. But mostly newspaper.

We did have a nice long IRC chat tonight, both with each other and a few concerned parties, though, and here's the decisions we came upon:

  1. We are definitely going to add two new admins, and an undetermined number of mods. It will be at least two. But probably more.
  2. To make up for having less new admins, all mods will be granted the new "move page" ability, which will take some pressure off some of the admin duties.
  3. We will announce the new staffers in two weeks on August 23rd or thereabouts. Those of you who were nominated or discussed as potential staffers in the other staff threads should take notice of this especially. Between now and then, we'll be looking at the contributions made over that two week period. And not just mainspace edit counts, but other factors, like edit quality, interaction with other editors, handling difficult situations, swimsuit contest, helpfulness, and so on. Older contributions will also be considered, but this is your chance to really show your best self off to everyone.

(If for some reason, you won't be avaliable during that two week period for a long part of it, let us know. We'll work something out to make sure you get a fair chance to show your stuff.)
