KrytenKoro - Most bears were content to live their lives, mauling and eating one, maybe two humans at most. "Mass-murder," as the bears always said, "is for the sharks." But not Barry. Barry was different. He knew that one day, he would kill ALL of the humans. This is the inspiring, tear-jerking story of one bear and the dream he dared to dream.
TALK -
Right now we're dealing with stuff like "Sora (KHIIFM) KHHD". I've raised this topic before, and I'm not sure we've come to a solid decision yet -- I don't see the benefit to the wiki in treating the HD ports as if they were separate games with separate parsers. It confuses the image naming system, causes us to have multiple images for the same thing, and is totally unnecessary when all they are is higher quality images of the same subject. Can we please come to a final decision on this?
I say yes. I vote we eliminate and replace everything from the PS2/PSP versions for HD versions, and just rename them as-is. We really don't to keep lower res images for which we already uploaded the HD versions. --Ignis (talk) 20:53, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
This would only apply to images that have HD versions, correct? I agree there is no reason to keep an image from a game's original version if it was released in better quality as part of an HD remake. - Challenge Sigil KHD.pngEternal Nothingness XIIIChallenge Sigil KHD.png 05:48, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
Correct. Though, the jury's still out on 1.5 and 2.8. At least until Shard comes back. So we'll have to keep everything from those as is for now. --Ignis (talk) 06:38, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
Clarification: As Shard has had to remind me multiple times because I keep forgetting, the "HD" in "KHDDDHD" actually is treated as an FM/Re-type modifier. That one should be kept, although I personally support shifting KH3D images to KHDDDHD images."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 17:59, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
I agree with removing the KHHD part, and uploading HD images over the old ones. However, regarding KH3D, we should keep the new content, like Catanuki, as KH3DHD (or KHDDDHD), like we do with Final Mixes. TheSilentHero 18:09, 27 February 2017 (UTC)

Since no one has made any objections to this, I'm going to go ahead and upload all HD images over the old ones. TheSilentHero 16:44, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

OPXion4EverIcon.png Reopening for the sake of my own clarification and for others working on Forum:Image Renovation. Example: Two images of the same content/scene exist. There may be minor differences, say, the addition of subtitles or a slight pose change, but not enough to merit a separate image. (Example: File:Mission 89 01 KHD.png). In such a case, we are uploading over the original/lower quality versions in exchange for the higher quality HD images. Correct?

Then, regarding FM/Re types, they should be uploaded and treated as separate entities. Meaning, do not upload the higher quality FM/Re images [KHFM, KH Re:COM, KH Re:coded] over the original lower quality images [KH, KH COM, KH coded]. This is now applied to KH3D- both DS and HD remake versions. Correct?

Regarding the naming system for KH3D...We have been using KH3D and KH3DHD. The proposal has been to switch to KHDDD and KHDDDHD. To me, I'm down for whatever you guys decide. KH3D is less typing, but that's a petty "reason." Regardless of what we decide, now is the time to decide since we're restarting the image renovation project.

If we are in agreement, I will update the image renovation forum with these guidelines.

HD images should indeed be uploaded over the lower quality ones. The Template:HD template can be used to show the original image in the summary.

For Final Mixed and Remakes, it can be uploaded over the regular game's one, as long as it doesn't have anything exclusive to the Final Mix/Remake in it. For KH3DHD, it is actually a remake instead of just an HD port, so the same applies there.
