Aer (新月破 Shingetsuha?, lit. "New Moon Destruction") is one of Xaldin's weapons in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Xaldin wields the Aer when equipped with the Technical Gear. It can be upgraded to Aer+ by using the Technical Gear+.

Design

An Aer lance's shaft is black in the center and white on the ends, with the two colors separated by small, silver rings. The lower blade is a thin, sky blue diamond with concave side corners. The main part of the upper blade is shaped like a blue right triangle with a circular cut taken out of its center. Two long, curved spikes sprout out of the triangle's bottom corners and spiral around the shaft. The top edges of these spikes are the same shade of blue as the blade, and the under edges are navy blue.

"Aer" is a word that means "air" and "sky" in a number of languages. It is also the name of a skyscraper in Japan.

Gameplay

The combos that the Aer lances provide Xaldin are aerial combat-oriented. The ground combo begins with Xaldin swinging his lances from the same starting point up to two far points in a "V" formation. He is then presented with a Y-Combo; if the player takes this, Xaldin leaps into the air, swinging his lances above him in a circular formation, like a fan. He is then presented with another Y-Combo, which ends the ground-to-aerial combo with Xaldin striking forward with his six lances in front of him. If the player did not take the first Y-Combo, Xaldin will perform his second attack of the ground combo, a ground version of the Y-Combo. Xaldin swings his Aer lances high in front of his circularly. The ground combo finisher is the ground version of the second Y-Combo, in which Xaldin thrusts forward with his lances all in front of him. The aerial combo begins with a simple swing of an Aer lance. The second attack is identical to the first Y-Combo, in which Xaldin swings his lances in a circular pattern above him. The aerial combo then ends similarly to the others, with Xaldin striking forward with his six lances in front of him. The Aer+ lances give Xaldin the same combos.
