The Illuminator is a boss from Kingdom Hearts II.
A relatively unknown Heartless, the Illuminator was the first boss of Port Royal. The gecko-like Heartless was summoned by Pete to aid Barossa with its powers to shroud the room in darkness. This made Barbarossa invincible, and it made things almost impossible to see. However, by searching out the Illuminator's glowing eyes, Sora was destory the Heartless at bay long enough to throw in some strong attacks onto the pirate captain until another Illuminator appears at Pete's call.
Ironically, the Illuminator bears a high resemblance to another reptilian Heartless with a similar strategy from Kingdom Hearts, the Stealth Sneak. The Illuminator did not actually have regular boss traits, as unlike Stealth Sneak, it only assisted Barbossa, as it could not attack.
