He was originally created by the real life Christopher Robin and his father, A. A. Milne, who both expanded upon his character from a small doll of a piglet that Christopher owned. He made his literary debut in A. A. Milne's book ''Winnie the Pooh'', playing Pooh's best friend from the very beginning.
