Kingdom Hearts, presumably, comes after the cartoons since they are married.</ref> and Mickey worked as a deck hand with his captain, Pete. He and Pete sailed the Steamboat Willie throughout [[Timeless River]]. This past association causes Pete to refer to Mickey as "the Boat-Boy King." and causes Mickey to refer to Pete as "Captain Pete."<ref>Mickey says "Time to weigh anchor cap'n Pete." in The World That Never was, meaning that the familiarity between them goes both ways.</ref>

When [[Sora]] comes from the future using a door in the Hall of the Cornerstone, he, along with the future versions of [[Donald Duck]] and [[Goofy]], mistake Mickey for being himself from the future. Four times, Mickey appears at scenes of trouble, either in peril (or appearing to be so), saving the day, or both. On one such occasion, his house is attacked by hordes of [[Heartless]] and a mini black hole that sucks up all his furniture. After each time Sora helps him out, Mickey shakes his hand and leads him to another scene of peril; Mickey did not remember these events.<ref>Mickey makes no mention of them, so most likely, does not remember them.</ref>

Sometime after his time as Pete's deck hand, Mickey was Yen Sid's Apprentice in [[Symphony of Sorcery]] and was training to become a Keyblade Master; he would remain an apprentice for several years and discovered Master Yen Sid has a Star Shard<ref>When Sora first comes to [[Country of the Musketeers]], he meets Mickey, who tells him that he knows about the Keyblade and the other worlds and it has, most likely, been several years since both Mickey and Peter have moved on from their jobs in [[Timeless River]]; as well as this, in [[Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep]] Mickey already knows what the Star Shard is, but not how to control it, meaning that he must have discovered it in early years of his apprenticeship under Yen Sid.</ref>. When Sora and Riku came to awaken the world, a Spellican Dream Eater has put him into a dream; one horrific nightmare about the brooms flooding the room with water and the other with him mastering the magic of Yen Sid's hat. They each have to go to different symphony areas to find the music to break the spell on Mickey. Successful, they defeated the Dream Eater and broke Mickey free of its control.
