On his 96th day in the Organization, during a mission in [[Beast's Castle]], Roxas lends [[Xion]] his [[Keyblade]] when she can't use her own and Roxas takes the stick for himself. The stick is near-useless as a weapon, but Roxas is still able to use magic while wielding it, and because he is fighting alongside Xion, Heartless will still release hearts.

On his second day in [[The Other Twilight Town]], Roxas picks up a wooden stick, mimicking that he is in possession of the Keyblade before throwing it over his shoulder, causing it to pathetically bounce off Riku, who was standing behind Roxas. On the final day of Roxas's story, the stick is seen again, and Roxas picks it up off the ground before it turns itself into the [[Kingdom Key]].

==Design==
The Wooden Stick is a light-brown stick with a slightly curved shaft. One side of the stick has a small twig jutting out of it, mirroring the teeth of a normal Keyblade. The Wooden Stick is slightly shorter than the Kingdom Key. When it strikes an enemy, wooden chips break off of it.

The design of the stick in ''Kingdom Hearts II'' is near identical, with slight differences. The stick is more crooked, the twig is shorter, and the stick in general is considerably smaller.

The wooden stick is made of ~40% cellulose, 30% hemicellulose, and %30 lignin. It is highly flammable, but this is not reflected in gameplay or cutscenes. As a piece of wood hard enough to be used as a blunt weapon, the stick probably comes from a dicotyledon (hard wood) tree; probably a Japanese Elm (Ulmus davidiana var. japonica), which is used as a 'street tree'. This implies that Twilight Town hasn't had Dutch Elm disease spread through its beetles, or that they invested in cultivars resistant to the fungus. Japanese Elm seeds were also sent to London arboretums in the late 1890s, possibly explaining why such a stick would show up in Beast's European castle.

==Gameplay==
The stick's basic combo is identical to the Kingdom Key's aerial and ground combo.

Interestingly, when Sora uses the Wooden Sword on the [[Destiny Islands]] in ''{{c|Kingdom Hearts|game}}'', it makes no contact or damage with the Heartless. Yet with the Wooden Stick, Roxas can hit the Heartless.
