It is an instrumental arrangement "Under the Sea", originally composed by {{w|Alan Menken}} and written by {{w|Howard Ashman}} for the 1989 Disney film ''{{w|The Little Mermaid}}'', for which it won the {{w|Academy Awards|Academy Award}} for {{w|Academy Award for Best Original Song|Best Song}}. It is one of the field themes of [[Atlantica]] and the third Song Mission in ''[[Kingdom Hearts II]]''.

Two Japanese-language versions of the lyrics exist. ''Kingdom Hearts II'' uses the second version from the 1999 VHS re-release of ''The Little Mermaid'', rather than the original theatrical release in 1991.

"Under the Sea" is approximately one minute and fifty-four seconds long with a tempo of 128 beats per minute in ''Kingdom Hearts''. 

In ''Kingdom Hearts II'', the song is approximately two minutes and six seconds long with a tempo of 100 beats per minute. Within the mini-game, it features the vocals of Sebastian, Ariel, as well as Sora.

This song becomes available after [[Sora]] obtains a [[Drive Gauge]] level of 5 and talks to [[Sebastian]] in Atlantica.

===Requirements===
In the mission, Sora have to raise the mermaid icon to the top of the bar. The trick to this segment is that to press {{Button|s}} and only press it when it shows Ariel; should it show Sebastian, just let it pass without pressing anything. If successful, Ariel is closer to no longer being glum, and the story line continues.
