Why are Xaldin's weapons in transliterated Japanese while everybody else who has Japanese weapon names have had them translated? I'd prefer them untranslated till we get official translations, but consistency is a bigger priority. Interobangu 05:13, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

It's mostly because Xaldin's weapons obviously need to stay in Japanese. When I first made the pages, the translations were awful and unwieldy ("dragon polaris general"?). The only way to make them sound not grating in English would be to take a lot of creative license, which this wiki isn't going to do because our job is straight information, not so much interpretation.
Also, Lexaeus's weapons have been changed to Japanese (they're mostly proverbs and poetry things that should probably stay in Japanese, although a lot of them sound alright in English). Marluxia and Zexion, the other two with Japanese weapon names, are easily translatable.—Urutapu 05:18, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
Zexion has a case for also being in japanese, but Marluxia's consist of katakana as well, so we agreed they would work better in English. Basically, the ones that have a clear "theme" in their names (Vexen's German, Larxene's French, and Xaldin and Lexaeus's poetic Japanese...wait, could Xaldin's be Chinese?), we decided to stick with that theme. However, judging by past examples (the main Keychains, La Vie en Rose), they will end up translated anyway in a month, so it's not really a big deal for us.Glorious CHAOS! 06:23, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
I've been entertaining the thought of them Chinese, too, actually. But yeah, whatever, only a month left.—Urutapu 06:54, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
After all, with his looks and accent, he does seem like he could be from Hong Kong if he was real.Glorious CHAOS! 07:09, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
