You can change it's disposition from Psychic to Reaper by rubbing its back. I'll leave whether back and body are the same as far as the game's concerned to someone else. Positive poking its foot as Reaper changed it to Passionate. Not sure if that helps with the "poke tail" suggestion, but I'm putting it out there.
