The soundtrack was released on April 18, 2012 in Japan.<ref>[https://www.jp.square-enix.com/music/lineup/item/SQEX-10304-6.html KINGDOM HEARTS Dream Drop Distance オリジナル・サウンドトラック | SQUARE ENIX]</ref> Takeharu Ishimoto and Tsuyoshi Sekito returned to compose the soundtrack alongside Yoko Shimomura.

The soundtrack was re-released on August 16, 2024 with new cover art based on the "Sea of Clouds" [[Key Art]] and was also released worldwide that day alongside ''[[Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep & 358/2 Days Original Soundtrack]]'' on digital platforms.
