If Roxas is knocked into the air when reaching his retaliation point/Revenge Value, he will normally retaliate with an Aerial Spin Swing, but may instead go for his Keyblade Throw combo. This makes triggering his Revenge Value rather dangerous since the latter revenge move is very hard to see coming and is near-instantaneous.

However, having Roxas reach his Revenge Value on ground has him retaliate with random moves if Sora lets up on his assault somehow, especially during the later phases after using his desperation move, Keyblade Release. This also can cause his later phase in general to also be very hard to predict, thus purposefully dropping combos in order to have him keep looping with either Whirlwind Swing, Continuous Swing or Aerial Spin Swing is often a solid strategy to safely damage him; his Keyblade Release will not trigger as a result if Sora can keep punishing him and then cutting his combos just short of reaching Revenge Value (only chaining into one combo finisher is enough to not trigger it).
