Personally I think of it as an interconnecting remake. Like Re:CoM and Re:coded, it has different gameplay as well as some small story changes. Rex Ronald Rilander (talk) 23:27, 13 April 2016 (UTC)

- It's all purely theories at this point, but the latest story update to KHX seems to suggest the following:
- KHX is what happened before the Keyblade War.
- KHUX is a dream of the events we are reliving from within the Realm of Sleep, hence the presence of Dream Eaters (Chirithy).
- Tetsuya Nomura said the following in an interview back in December with KHInsider when asked why he said KHUX is "not exactly the same game" as KHX: "I cannot explain this without any spoilers but there is a connection between the two. Who is trying to do what will be depicted in KINGDOM HEARTS χ[chi] or KINDGOM HEARTS Unchained χ, and the reason behind it would be told in KHχ Back Cover (included n 2.8)." -
