==Story==
===Before ''Kingdom Hearts III''===
Before Boo arrived in Monstropolis, she was one of the human children from another world whose screams were used by Monsters Incorporated for energy to power the city; namely, [[Randall Boggs]] was her assigned Scarer. However, Boo eventually met and befriended [[James P. Sullivan]] and [[Mike Wazowski]], which led them to discover that laughter and positive emotions produce stronger energy than negative emotions. Randall was eventually banished by Sulley and Mike due to attempting to force negative energy out of children; since then, Boo enjoys occasional visits to Monstropolis.

One night in Monstropolis, Boo is on a playdate with Sulley and Mike in the Monsters Incorporated lobby when she notices Sora, Donald, and Goofy entering the building. Although Sora initially accuses the monsters of scaring her, Goofy notes that Boo is happy around them. Boo quickly becomes friends with the trio (although she misidentifies Donald as "Mike Wazowski"), when a group of [[Unversed]] appear; she hides away behind the front desk while the others deal with them. Afterwards, Sulley and Mike decide to find Boo's door and return her back to her homeworld to keep her safe from the Unversed, and Sora and company agree to help.

On their way to the Laugh Floor, Sulley explains to Sora and co. Boo's role in the company switching their energy harvesting method from scream power to laugh power. After clearing out Unversed from the Laugh Floor, the group hitches a ride on the doors to the Door Vault, where Boo's laughter is used to power the doors and make them open. They enter what appears to be Boo's door, but they are instead sent to the factory's basement. Randall appears and reveals his trap and plan to take over the company, to Boo's derision. As he commandeers the factory machinery, the group presses on to send Boo home before Randall is to be dealt with.

Sulley and Mike give themselves a paint job to make Boo laugh and repower an elevator to the Second Floor, where the group pushes through more Unversed and [[Heartless]] to the factory's central control unit. The group's attempts to utilize Boo's laughter (including Mike's less-than-effective standup routine and Sora's "Funny Face Special") succeed in shorting out the machine, and they later re-surface at the Power Plant, which has been set ablaze at the hands of the Unversed. Boo helps the group and the [[CDA agent]]s in putting out the fires, and later finds a way back to the door vault via some dislodged pipes.

After defeating the Lump of Horror, Boo sees Randall off as he is banished once again. Just as they are about to enter her door, however, the group is sent back to the Laugh Floor, where they encounter Vanitas; Boo accompanies Mike as he summons doors for Sulley to throw Vanitas into. After his ejection, Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Mike bid their farewells as Sulley leads Boo back to her room.

Sometimes after [[Xehanort]]'s defeat, Boo is seen sleeping in Sulley's arms. Mike and Sulley take Boo back to her bedroom and watch her asleep before closing the door quietly.

==Design==
Boo is a toddler with black hair tied into short pigtails and brown eyes. She wears a pink shirt with purple leggings and white socks.

==Personality==
Boo is a brave girl for her age, not fearing any of the monsters of Monstropolis, nor Sora, Donald or Goofy in their different forms; she opens up to the trio rather quickly after seeing them for the first time. She is also courageous, being able to stand up to Randall, her former Scarer. Boo is not without her fear, though, as she is still scared by  Sulley's roars and the Unversed, which Sulley instructs Boo to hide from. Boo is also very perceptive and observant, noticing details such as the Unversed symbol on Randall's machinery and a potential path to the Door Vault before anyone else.

==Origin==
Boo first appeared in the 2001 film ''Monsters, Inc.'', voiced by [[wikipedia:Mary Gibbs|Mary Gibbs]].

In the film, the little girl manages to find her way into the Monsters, Inc. company building from her bedroom and encounters top scarer [[James P. Sullivan]] while he is recovering Mike's paperwork after-hours. She escapes into the city of Monstropolis as chaos erupts over the fear that monsters have of human children (humans are treated as physically toxic sources of scream energy by the citizens and Monsters Inc. workers), attracting the attention of the Child Detection Agency (CDA). As Sulley and Mike keep her hidden in order to eventually return her to the human world, they find out that she is not only non-toxic, but that her laughter generates more power than the scream power the company has been using for years to power the city. During this time, Sulley grows attached to her and nicknames her "Boo", much to Mike's annoyance.

Meanwhile, Randall Boggs, Sulley's rival and Boo's assigned scarer, plots to capture and subject Boo to the Scream Extractor, a machine built to forcefully extract screams from kidnapped children, in a ploy with company CEO Henry J. Waternoose III to solve Monstropolis' energy crisis. His ambush results in Mike's capture instead; after he is rescued by Sulley, Waternoose banishes them both to the Himalayas. Before he can use Randall's machine on Boo, Sulley returns to rescue her, followed by Mike's return. Overcoming her fear of Randall, Boo fights back against him, and he is banished to the human world.

After Waternoose's plan is exposed to the CDA and his arrest, Roz, the company's keymaster (revealed to be an undercover CDA Agent), permits Boo to be sent home, but with her door to be shredded. Sulley and Mike bid their goodbyes, and Boo is returned to her world without a way back to Monstropolis. Some time later, however, after Monsters Incorporated changes to laugh power, Mike surprises Sulley with Boo's door repaired; after Sulley inserts the final woodchip to reopen the door, he is greeted by Boo once again.

In ''Kingdom Hearts III'', Sulley and Mike give conflicting accounts on Boo's status in Monstropolis as of the Extractor incident. While Sulley claims that they have nothing to hide concerning citizens seeing her, Mike claims that Boo's presence is still a Code 835 emergency that needs intervention from the CDA. Mike's claim is reinforced by the CDA's appearance at the Power Plant, who were implied to be previously engaged in a Code 835 procedure<ref>'''''[[Kingdom Hearts III]]''''', '''CDA Agent''': "Disregard Code 835. 72-16 in progress."</ref> before switching to putting out the fires, although they don't say anything of Boo's presence after the fact.
