The Hostile Program is a boss from Kingdom Hearts II.

Upon realizing the threat of Tron and Sora, the MCP had Commander Sark deploy a special program virus called the Hostile Program. It caused chaos for the computer world as well as the real world in Hollow Bastion. It somewhat combined the attributes of the Strafer, the Magnum Loader, and the Devastator, though it itself is not a Heartless. The Hostile Program was the first boss of Space Paranoids. When the Hostile Program is hit a certain number of times, the outer shell will fall off. It battles largely using lasers. It has three eyes, each similar to the ones Heartless have.

During battle, the Hostile Program moves only in a circle around the room and fires many lasers at the party. After defeating the Hostile Program, Tron gives Sora the Photon Debugger keyblade.

Strategy

An easy way to fight the hostile program is to hit when near and pick up the clusters it leaves behind. When you have enough clusters, you use the reaction command, Freeze, which will freeze it and what it was currently doing. When you freeze the Hostile Program, make sure he does not have lasers out, as they will still do you harm.

As you fight the Hostile Program, it will lose armour and start to use more lasers, making it harder to hit. This is where the Limit Complete Compilement comes into play. It can home in on the Hostile Program and release more clusters. The final part of the limit will make fighting the Hostile Program even easier. Heal only when needed.

The Program circles the arena very quickly, faster than Sora can move. However, the use of Valor or Wisdom Forms can allow Sora to keep up. Master is too slow.

Trivia

  • The Hostile Program, along with the Experiment in Halloween Town, Hayner, and Riku, are the only four boss characters in the game who are not Disney or Final Fantasy characters or connected to the Heartless or Nobodies in some way. These characters are located in the journal entries as antagonists, with red squares.
  • Hostile Program could not be defeated on early copies of PlayStation 3. Instead of firing lasers, it became invincible. This bug can now be fixed by downloading an update from PlayStation Network.
