Explosion (disambiguation)

Explosion(爆発 Bakuhatsu) is an ability available in Kingdom Hearts II which may only be used by Sora.

When eqipped, Explosion acts as a ground combo finisher (if no magical attack is selected beforehand), setting up a circular field of energy on the ground which acts as a guide for four magic orbs. These orbs inflict 4x damage and repel the enemy; the repel causes a maximum of 2x damage. Its strength is determined by your magic value, unlike other combo finishers, and is a non-elemental attack. It is obtained as a bonus by defeating the Blizzard Lord and Volcanic Lord in Agrabah.

Once Explosion is equipped, it is the finishing attack of a ground Keyblade combo. However, if a Magic attack is used in the combo before the finisher, Explosion will NOT occur.

When Explosion DOES happen, it creates a "ring of energy" around Sora, and anything touching or inside the ring is damaged according to the Magic stat, NOT the Strength stat. If the enemy is hit by one or more of the glowing spheres, they suffer more damage. Explosion is considered magic, but does not have an element. Also, enemies that are hit by Explosion get knocked away from Sora, giving him elbow room to press on with the attack.

Explosion is useful both when dealing with Bosses and when surrounded by large swarms of Heartless.
