Cards are used by Sora to fight in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. There are four main card types: Attack Cards, Magic Cards, Item Cards, and Enemy Cards. All Cards used in battle (with the exception of Enemy Cards) have a small number in the corner, which is the card's Card Value. The higher the card calue, the more versatile the card is in breaking other cards, but the more CP it costs to have. 0 Cards are the most powerful, and can break any card that comes before it, but can be broken by any card that comes after it. Attack cards each contain one strike with the Keyblade, and are colored red. Magic cards either let Sora use a spell or use a summon, and are colored blue. Item cards restore attack and magic cards after use, and are colored green. Enemy Cards enable a status affect, which can change Card Value, increase speed, and make Sora invincible to certain elements. New cards are either given to Sora, or found in the environment or Moogle rooms. The attack and magic cards, once used, can be restored by charging. Furthermore, they can be stacked to make a more powerful combo. Enemy cards, which enhance various abilities, can also be used.

Map Cards are also used by Sora to open doors and advance in the game. A Mickey Mouse symbol card randomly appears in battle during bosses. Using it causes a change in the environment that helps Sora battle the boss or slow it down.
