Explore the wiki! There's plenty of pages where users have posted tips and such on how to customize talk bubbles. You can have fun icons (like the Hidden Mickey), skinny Talk Bubbles (I still don't get them, but they exist), inverted talk bubbles (where the text is on top and the user info on bottom), and more. In reality, all of this is really optional, and much of your user goodies will be, as well. But a basic talk bubble can be made from the things I've asked for so far.
