However, as I always say, your own artistic motivation is well received as well. Feel free to add your personal touch, if you want. I think that somenthing that one desing with his own hand end up looking better than somenthing that you did with a guide, or specification. Basically, dont let the "Lanes Between" motif, limit your creativeness.
