The Barrier Master (バリアマスター Bariamasutā) is a Heartless in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. This dark, magic-familiar creature is first fought on Day 95. It occasionally appears when there is a strong Heartless. It has the unique ability to make other Heartless allies invincible by putting a magical barrier around them. They only show up as protection for a powerful enemy, and it theremore must always be defeated first.

These mid-sized Heartless are accomplished mages. While not aggressive, they grant allies an impenetrable barrier.
Attack them until dizzy to make them drop their books, disabling any active barriers. The fallen books can then be knocked away.
They have high defense, but are vulnerable to magic. Exploit that fact.
Worlds Fought
Appearance
The Barrier Master is merely a version of the Bookmaster from Kingdom Hearts II and the Runemaster from Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, its hat, clothing-like body, and face colored in various shades of indigo and violet. Its large book bears the Heartless insignia on the front cover, the Heartless having no legs and yellow hands and eyes.
Abilities
The Barrier Master uses its large book as a shield, similar to the defensive methods used by the large-bodied Heartless. It can only be attacked when separated from the book, which is also used as a weapon with magical powers, the Heartless stunned upon this separation. Due to this Heartless occasionally appearing with another stronger Heartless, the stronger Heartless cannot be hit as the Barrier Master is protecting it with a spell. The only way to remove this spell is to defeat the Barrier Master.
Trivia
- The Barrier Master was one of the first Heartless to appear in 358/2 Days revealed to English audiences. Appearing in a clip of the game's storyline in Agrabah, it was seen fighting Roxas alongside a Fire Plant.
- True to the other two members of its family, the Barrier Master's book is laid out from right to left, the traditional Japanese style in writing and literature.
- The Barrier Master was one of the first new Heartless from 358/2 Days added to its magic-using family.
