The Oathkeeper (約束のお守り Yakusoku no Omamori?, lit. "Oath's Charm") is a Keychain for Sora's Keyblade which appears in Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts II, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. It also appears as half of Roxas's dual set of Keyblades alongside the Oblivion, and was transformed from his original Kingdom Key after he absorbed Xion. Fundamentally, the Oathkeeper is symbolic of Sora's memories of Kairi. (more....)

Larxene, the Savage Nymph (非情の妖姫 Hijō no Yōki?, lit. Callous Vixen), is Rank XII within Organization XIII. Larxene is the group's only female member, and also has a very sadistic nature. She controls lightning, and uses lighting to thrash opponents with rapid attacks while also attacking them with her weapons: electrified throwing knives.

She plays a large role in Sora's storyline during the events of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, appearing frequently to taunt Sora and taking delight in the rage and agony she spurs in him. She appears as a playable character in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days 's mission mode. (more....)

January

The Shadow is a Pureblood Heartless that is found in all Kingdom Hearts games. Although the Shadow is not the absolute weakest type of Heartless, it is the most basic type, and is still a threat to those without the Keyblade. It is found in each world in every game, excluding Atlantica in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Neverland in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Certain Heartless, such as the Darkside, the Dark Follower, or Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, can also summon Shadows, and the Shadows spawned by the Dark Follower are in fact violet, rather than the traditional black. Sleight (ストック技 sutokku gi?, lit. "stock technique") (from "sleight of hand") is a term used in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories to refer to certain combinations of two or three cards that produce unusual effects. They are used by Sora, Riku, and most bosses in the game. Sora may learn his Sleights through leveling up, progressing through the story, obtaining certain cards, or by finding them in treasure chests, while Riku starts the game with all of his Sleights. Each Sleight has certain requirements to be activated, and most require all three stockable cards to be a certain type or value. (more....)

October

Traverse Town is the first major playable world in Kingdom Hearts outside of Destiny Islands. A quaint and calm town, Traverse Town features a sky of eternal night, where stars can be seen clearly. Survivors of the worlds lost to the Heartless take shelter here after their world has been destroyed.

Leon, Yuffie, Aerith, Cid, Merlin, the Fairy Godmother, Pinocchio and Geppetto are notable residents. Huey, Dewey, and Louie own the item shop, while Cid owns the accessory shop and later sells Gummi Blocks to upgrade and modify Gummi Ships. Moogles also take residence here, where they successfully run a mysterious workshop. Merlin allows Sora to practice his magic on neutral targets, and the Fairy Godmother unlocks Summons.

Traverse Town is the first place Sora lands after he is drawn out of the disappearing Destiny Islands. (more....)

September

The Awakening or Dive into the Heart is a location which appears in Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II. It is framed as a world within a dream, though the events which occur within it have a real effect on the waking world, and in one instance they are actually observed by outside forces. In terms of gameplay, the purpose of the Awakening is to serve as a tutorial level, where the player will learn the controls of the game, choose how their character will grow, and fight their first boss. The player is guided through the Awakening by an inaudible, unseen "voice" whose identity is uncertain.

To reinforce the dreamlike setting of the Awakening, Sora and Roxas both reach it by falling into an ocean. However, instead of drowning they find that they can breathe, and land upon an ocean floor which erupts into doves, revealing the Awakening. In Roxas's case, this first Awakening is merely a memory of Sora's, and he enters his true awakening three days later. (more....)
