As for the World Event, I'm not so sure what we can do. I think that the actual submissions themselves can be hosted anywhere: in their userspace on the KHWiki, a blog on the Keyhole or on the Fanon Wiki. It doesn't matter as long as '''a)''' it's their work and '''b)''' it was created for this competition (no recycling articles that you wrote for something else). People can link via URLs so that's no matter. The issue is figuring out where we  can carry out the voting. I propose that once the submissions are locked in, we have a voting page on both Wikis so that editors from both Wikis can vote easily. Then, the votes will be added together from both pages and the results released in the magazine. We are looking for someone who can take up the heavy role of being the "patroller" for the user trivia contest. The job entails that they check the wiki email every-so-often to take in the submissions and answers for the user trivia, checking for all subject line "User Trivia" emails.
To break down the job exactly, in stage one of the contest (people sending in the facts about themselves), they'll have to check the email on Dec 04 and make a list of all the people who signed up but has not yet handed in their fact. You must then <s>hound</s> remind them to send it in before the 7th (or give the list to me so I can handle it) or else they won't be able to take part. On the 7th, they need to divide the sign-ups into two groups randomly by using a random name generator and make a list of the Group One names and Group One facts and the same with the Group 2. Fast forward, on the 27th, they need to take in the results and send them to me or anyone else working on the magazine so they can put them into the magazine.
The drawback is the patroller can't actually participate in the competition himself. Hence, we are looking for a member of staff that isn't interested in taking part in the user trivia contest, but has the time to help out with the patrolling job. You can be a long-time, non-staff editor but you'll need to ask the bcrats if you're allowed access to the wiki email.

TheFifteenthMember Yes. You're creepy. I can't say we'll miss you while you're gone, so it'd be best if you did go. We all win that way. TheFifteenthMember 20:14, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
We're one step closer to holding our End of Year Event 2014! From this forum, we have picked out two great ideas and since we're awesome (and because there was an uncanny tie), we're going to run both competitions simultaneously to weave them into one big event! I've volunteered to do most of the planning but of course everyone else still gets a say in what goes on, so I have created this thread to discuss how the event will run.

Now, here are the two competition ideas:

  • User Trivia: Nominated by ANX219, the event is a contest between The Keyhole and the KHWiki. Users from both Wikis will each submit an interesting, obscure fact about themselves via email (or anything else private). Once each Wiki has a pool of trivia pieces, editors from the opposite Wiki will try to match up the right trivia piece with the right user and submit their answers. Begin January, the answers will be displayed publicly and then the Wiki that had guessed the most answers correctly wins. Nitpick details:
    • Since the KHWiki has a larger userbase, some Keyhole users might have to submit multiple facts about themselves to make it an even number.
    • The way submitting will work is every member who wishes to take part will email their answers and provide the Wiki that they belong to. We will count an individual's score, stack it up with the rest of his Wiki then turn it into a percentage. For example, if person A has 8/10 but person B has 2/10, we will calculate that as 10/20 and then that Wiki's total score will be 50%.
    • There should be a person from each Wiki monitoring the email to take in the answers and add up scores. That person can submit a trivia about himself, but he isn't allowed to take part in matching up the other Wiki's trivia for obvious reasons. I don't have the email password so unless someone gives the password to me, someone else from the KHWiki will have to take that role for us. Who wants to assume the position for the Keyhole?
    • As long as the two people taking in answers are trustworthy, there's no worries about cheating because a) it's a team competition so a person from the KHWiki wouldn't exactly want to tell all the answers to a competitor from the Keyhole and b) we're a nice bunch.
  • Design a World Contest: Nominated by maggosh, this event will have no distinction between the Keyhole and the KHWiki. Instead, users will design their own KH world adaptation from a Disney/Square Enix property and detail their ideas in full. We can give people two weeks to write their ideas, draw any sketches, and take in any criticisms/feedback so they can refine their ideas. They can draft ideas before the time begins if they wish, but it mustn't be done on the Wiki. Users would want to provide as much detail as possible; ideas include designing a Heartless to match the world, detailing the plotline of the world, and explaining the layout of the world. After that, we can undergo a voting week where nominations are "locked" (cannot be altered/improved) and every member of the Wiki has one vote on which world idea they find the most appealing, interesting, vivid, detailed, workable and realistic (you can't vote for your own).

One idea I've had is we could involve the magazine (since that's also a joint project between the KHWiki and Keyhole) and for an awesome, special, new year issue, we can have a one-time-only fourteenth page to do with the two competitions. There, we can reveal the results for the competition and name all the participants.

The main struggle will be to do with timing. I'm hoping that we can discuss, comb out any nitpicks, and take in all the user trivia submissions by the end of this month. At the start of December, we can start taking in answers for the user trivia and begin the two week writing period for the Design a World Contest. On week three, the voting period for the world contest will take place and user trivia answers will still be taken in. At the end of that week, the contest ends and all votes and answers are illegible. Week four will be used to calculate scores and write up the special fourteenth page of the magazine, which will be released at the start of January, ending 2014's Event.

And that concludes my post. Thoughts? Comments? Criticisms? Complaints? Post them below, we shall need them!

I'd be happy to take part in the user trivia. It's a good idea. I like the world creation idea as well, though I doubt that I would have the time to come up with something myself. Aixon 20:37, 8 November 2014 (UTC)

TheFifteenthMember Myes, but THEY didn't know that! We have to consider THEM! And yet we must also be mysterious, myes, myes... TheFifteenthMember 20:33, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
That's fine, thanks for posting! The world creation idea could be as little as a paragraph to as detailed as a full article, so don't be put off by posting something really short (of course, you still don't have to!). To everyone else: do people agree with all the points made in my post above? I need some feedback here so that I can either be given the green light to continue further or discuss any issues that people bring up.

We also need to figure out how we host the competition across the two Wikis.
