This was something the wiki as a whole decided on ages ago, as casual conversation was getting to be too much to handle in combination with wiki duties. Now, we're not going to play Talk Page police and strike down everyone who has gets a little off-topic; goodness knows we all do once in a while. But if we notice a lot of talk page activity, and ''none'' of it for the talk page's intended purpose, someone will call you out on it. | |||
As for the IRC and our younger users, many of us understand and are sympathetic (and as much as we'd like to have you, good on your parents for caring enough to keep an eye on you and keep you safe! ^_^) At some point in the future, Wikia has mentioned playing with more BBS-style forums; while I don't know how they'll work in conjunction with the wiki itself, it's likely that might provide an additional outlet to the social aspects of the wiki that will allow younger editors or IRC-phobes a better way to socialize. It's just something we have to wait on, unfortunately.}} | |||
