Positive effects
What distinction do we make between positive statuses and passive abilities? (E.g. Regen: I can see how it might possibly be a status in KHD -- if you ignore the fact that it's not named that -- but would you say it's a status in its other appearances?)  -- 07:45, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
:if it has a visual effect or is not explicitly equipped. For example, Haste is an ability in days, and a status in dreamdrop. 20:10, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
So, what are statuses? Vanish and Aero Shield (in KH) are, because they're induced by commands/magic. And Haste in KH3D, apparently? What else?  -- 20:40, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

::Update: KH3D has the following positive effects, which are granted by Spirit magic:
::*Protect
::*Shell
::*Drain
::*Haste
::*Regen
::*Auto-Life
::*Combo Assist
::*Spirit Roar (maybe?)

Invincibility, Part II
:I think we should restrain it to when there is an actual command or ability causing the Invincibility, rather than conflating it with invincibility frames, which is a separate mechanic. 01:55, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

Unchained
Not real clear yet on what these do, since I don't have them on my own medals, but I've seen:
*Poison
*Paralyze
*Sleep
:I got hit with Paralyze earlier today and it made me unable to use the first Medal I had equipped. Don't know what happens when used on enemies. Rex Ronald Rilander (talk) 03:24, 14 April 2016 (UTC)

From in-game help:

The following sword/shield icons represent status effects. These status effects temporarily change the STR/DEF of the Medals in your Keyblade based on their attributes. These effects have 3 tiers, and the tier number will be displayed on the icon.

The other icons represent status ailments.

    Increased strength

    Decreased strength

    Increased defense

    Decreased defense

    Poisoned. Damage taken during every turn.

    Sleeping and cannot move until effect wears off. Sleeping enemies will wake up if attacked.

    Paralyzed and sometimes rendered immobile.

The strength and defense increases also have attribute variants; all strength and defense modifiers have tier variants. There's icons for most of these on the khu wiki. 18:37, 13 May 2016 (UTC)

Lower HP in KHIII Re Mind
As I'm sure many of you know, three of the new bosses in Re Mind have attacks that lower your maximum HP. It does seem to be treated like a status effect since your HP goes back to normal after a short while, and using an item like an Elixer restores it immediately. What name should it be given? And should it be included in this page (under the negative section of course)? Come to think of it, one of the cheats in Re:Coded did this too. Lord Fawful (talk) 23:29, 17 February 2020 (UTC)
:There's plenty of conventions to go with if we lack one. You can always resort to Kingdom Hearts's big brother Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy XII has a debuff called "Disease", although it's gradual. Final Fantasy XIII-2's "Wounded" mechanic is probably the one most on-point since it functions virtually the same way. Or you can simply try and describe the debuff with the simplest wording, "Max HP Reduction."--Samoa Joe (talk) 17:25, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
::We shouldn't be using a name from a Final Fantasy status with similar effect. I think "Max HP Reduction" would work as a placeholder until we get an official name. 17:31, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
