:There's plenty of conventions to go with if we lack one. You can always resort to Kingdom Hearts's big brother Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy XII has a debuff called "Disease", although it's gradual. Final Fantasy XIII-2's "Wounded" mechanic is probably the one most on-point since it functions virtually the same way.
