Unlike in previous games, the world order in ''Dream Drop Distance'' is not static. The player, playing as either Sora or Riku, starts at Traverse Town, then chooses La Cité des Cloches, Prankster's Paradise, and The Grid, playing through each world in whatever order. Then, they do both Country of the Musketeers, and Symphony of Sorcery in either order, then they end at The World That Never Was.
