According to Chirithy, the five Foretellers, as well as one other Keyblade wielder, were the apprentices of his creator. In an attempt to avert this crisis, the Foretellers established Unions to battle the Heartless.fact<!--cite with storylink; specific missions would be ideal-->
Aced is given a Keyblade forged from his own heart by the Master of Masters, who takes Aced, Ava, Gula, Invi, Ira, and Luxu as his apprentices. Shortly thereafter, the Master gives a copy of the Book of Prophecies to Aced and grants him leadership over the Ursus Union as its Foreteller. As Aced and the other Foretellers read their copies of the Book of Prophecies, they are shocked by the final entry, which details an event known as the Keyblade War, during which light would expire and the world would reach its end.
the player allies with the Ursus Union.
Shortly after arriving in Daybreak Town, Player is confronted by a Darkside Heartless emerging from a massive Corridor of Darkness. Fortunately, Master Aced arrives alongside Chirithy, rescuing Player by forcing the Darkside back into the Realm of Darkness and follows it in order to destroy the massive Heartless; leaving Chirithy to explain the situation to Player.

After exploring the Fountain Plaza and defeating several Shadow Heartless, a portal to the Lanes Between opens before Player, from which Foreteller Aced emerges. Aced makes note of how Player has managed to access the power of the Keyblade, meaning that lesser Heartless won't stand a chance. However, in order to defeat stronger foes, Player must combine their strength with those who share their purpose and aspirations. Just then, another Corridor of Darkness opens in the Fountain Plaza, unleashing another Darkside onto Daybreak Town. Just then, Player and Aced are surrounded by fellow Keyblade wielders hailing from their Union, with Aced explaining that Player's friends will become their power. Following the defeat of the Darkside, Aced reveals that there are others who collect the Light, but not all of them share the same goal of bringing peace to the world - though it is up to Player to discover who among them walks the path of Darkness; taking their leave through the Lanes Between shortly thereafter.
Sometime after Luxu mysteriously disappeared to fulfill his role assigned to him by the Master, the Master meets with Aced alone in the Foretellers' Chamber and assigns him to be Ira's right-hand man when Ira takes over as the leader of the Foretellers. Aced is disappointed, as he was eager to inherit the position someday, but agrees that Ira is the most qualified among them for the role. When Aced expresses his confusion to why Ira is being promoted, the Master mentions that he could one day disappear, and it is Aced's job to support Ira if he does. Furthermore, the Master elaborates that Ira's leadership may be brought into question one day, at which point it is Aced's duty to step forward. With this in mind, Aced happily accepts his role and departs.

As Player continues on their missions throughout the worlds, Chirithy often returns to Aced's side in order to report Player's progress, occasionally applying tests of strength in order to prove such advancements.
Aced and his fellow Foretellers are soon introduced to the Master's new creation, the Chirithy. Though the Spirit Chirithy are meant to aid Keyblade wielders in their endeavors, the Master warns them that if a wielder falls to darkness, so will their Chirithy, causing them to transform into a Nightmare. Aced suggests that they destroy any Nightmare Chirithy they come across; however, Ava refutes the idea. Ava and Gula then tease Aced over his identity as the bear because of his scary demeanor, much to the latter's embarrassment.

After having defeated the Darkball Heartless in Agrabah, Player returns to Daybreak Town, where Chirithy compliments their progress and ultimately decides to tell Player what they need to know. Chirithy explains that before The Master of Masters - his creator - disappeared, he gave his six disciples new names, and to five of them a tome from the Book of Prophecies. Those five disciples became the Foretellers, and looked to the Book of Prophecies, only to be shocked by what was revealed in the last verse: "By waging war o that land, Light shall face defeat and be annihilated. The world shall be engulfed in eternal darkness." In order to save the future, the Foretellers thought about using the hidden power within the Book of Prophecies, with Chirithy revealing that this is the power that Player is using; with the Medals acting as intermediaries. Elaborating, Chirithy explains that they used the power from the future to protect the Light from the Darkness, and tried to change the future that is engulfed in Darkness. Chirithy then reminds Player that even though the Foretellers have similar goals, their wills differ, which is why Player mustn't lose sight of who they are.
Without warning, the Master disappears from the world, and although the Foretellers actively seek him out, they are unable to locate him. Upholding the Master's teachings, Aced and the other Foretellers begin recruiting Keyblade wielders to each of their Unions, utilizing the powers of their copies of the Book of Prophecies in the form of Medals to aid their wielders in collecting Lux to maintain the balance of power.Quest 94: Where's Chirithy? Pt. 2

Later, following the demise of Chirithy (2), Master Aced approaches Chirithy, informing him that despite all the Light that has been gathered by those who wield the Keyblade, Darkness has continued to spread with more and more power. Chirithy then asks if that truly means that there is infact a traitor among the five forces of Light - however Aced states that they don't want to believe that just yet.

Sometime later, Player meets Chirithy in the Fountain Plaza, where Chirithy greets them happily and asks if he’s right to assume that Player’s always “going at it with all he’s got” – revealing that he’d brought something as a reward for all of Player’s hard work, handing Player Beads of Light. Player celebrates briefly before Chirithy tells them that there’s no need for it and asks that Player put it away. Chirithy explains that while Player wears the Beads of Light, they can’t be devoured by the Darkness, continuing to say that they’d been assigned a special mission directly from Master Aced and that they’ll need the Beads of Light to complete the mission successfully. Elaborating, Chirithy explains that Player would still be defeating Heartless, but within the Corridors of Darkness, advising Player to be careful because the Beads of Light can only protect them from the Darkness for a set period of time. Player accepts the mission before them, earning some encouragement from Chirithy, who suggests that Player not push themselves and do their best.
Over time, the Foretellers notice Keyblade wielders utilizing bangles that provides them the power to collect dark energy, though they decide that using the bangles was acceptable for their Union members. Subsequently, Ira summons the Foretellers for a meeting in the Foretellers' Chamber, declaring that there is a traitor among them after discovering a Nightmare Chirithy snooping around their home. Knowing that he is the most likely suspect, Aced denies that he is the traitor. Although the other Foretellers argue that the traitor could be someone from their Unions, Ira reasons that the bangles are the Nightmare's doing and the traitor has to be one of the Foretellers since only one of them could have obtained the bangles. Aced condemns Ira for spreading doubt amongst them and storms off on his own, adjuring the meeting.

After the mission proves to have been a success, Chirithy meets with Master Aced in the Clock Tower to report on how Player handled the mission. Aced, intrigued, states that all’s well that ends well before leaving – only to have Chirithy chase after them. Chirithy asks Aced if they didn’t think that it was a bit early to be giving Player a mission like that, only for Aced to explain that it was necessary in order to expedite Player’s growth; as they must develop a resistance to the Darkness as soon as possible. When Chirithy asks why, Aced reveals that a rise of the forces of Darkness draws near, and until that time the numbers of their Union must be increased as much as possible, which Chirithy says he understands.

|When Neoshadows appear in Daybreak Town, Player joins three other Keyblade wielders in their efforts to quash the darkness being spread by the new species of Heartless; however, Player is the only survivor. After Chirithy witnesses another of its kind fade, Aced appears to speak with Player, revealing that while the Keyblade wielders are gathering Lux at an amazing rate, the darkness is spreading even faster. Chirithy asks if that means that there really is a traitor among them, to which Aced states that he is not willing to believe that yet.Quest 250: Heartless Havoc: Fountain Square

After a long day of pursuing Minute Bomb Heartless, Player returns home for some much needed rest. That night, while Player sleeps, they dream of the Clock Tower, where they see all five Foretellers meeting with someone in a Black Coat, Unknown. Before Player can investigate however, they are surrounded by Darkness and pulled out of the dream; finding Chirithy to be sitting in the room with them when they wake. Chirithy asks what had happened, as it looked as though Player was having a pretty bad nightmare, when Player confirms this, Chirithy advises them to go back to sleep. When Player is sleeping once again, Chirithy turns to the window and asks if he’s right to assume that Chirithy (3) had been the one to get in the way. Chirithy (3) materializes and asks if Chirithy was showing The Player a dream and what it was up to. Coldly, Chirithy claims that his interests are the exact opposite of Chirithy (3). Chirithy (3) sighs and asks if that means that they’ll become enemies before disappearing again. Turning to Player, Chirithy asks itself whether or not it will be able to protect them.
One night, Player is shown a dream by Chirithy, in which Aced and the other Foretellers meet with the Master in the Foretellers' Chamber, though Nightmare Chirithy quickly puts a stop to this dream.Quest 351: A Job Never Done Pt. 1

Returning from their mission at Beast's Castle, an exhausted Player and Chirithy encounter another Keyblade wielder named Skuld, who wonders why the Unions are competing for the collection of Light when all the Unions have similar goals, reasoning that at some point people sought to outdo one another and that may have changed their goals ultimately. Abruptly, Skuld asks if she’s right to assume that Player knows Ephemera – shocking both Player and Chirithy – though Skuld explains that she knew Ephemera because they were from the same party. Continuing, Skuld explains that Ephemera had become a Keyblade wielder not long ago, and recently he’d left their party. Skuld admits that the next part is the most important, revealing that Ephemera has since visited her in her dreams and instructed her to help Player. When Chirithy asks why Ephemera would ask her to do such a thing, Skuld admits that she doesn’t know, though ever since Ephemera disappeared she’s felt as though she’s passed by him a hundred times – though he’s never greeted her, and she’s unsure why he’s appearing to her through her dreams; so she’s not even sure why she’d meant to work with Player. Ultimately she’d sought out Player in hopes that they might know something. Player then explains to Skuld that Ephemera’s appeared to them through their dreams as well. Happy to be finally getting somewhere, Skuld asks what Ephemera said and what kind of dream he’d appeared in. When Player explains the dream to Skuld, Skuld is intrigued by the fact that Ephemera had said that he’d be waiting for Player. Skuld then suggests that they return to the place Player went to with Ephemera once more, though Chirithy says that they can’t – as Master Ava had barred them from doing so. However, Skuld suggests that this is because there’s something there; believing that the reason Ephemera wanted her to work alongside Player likely has something to do with that. Skuld then mentions that there’s something else as well, only to be interrupted by a large crashing. Realizing that the sound came from nearby, Skuld summons her Keyblade and suggests that they investigate, with Player and Chirithy following close behind.
A few days later, Aced invites Ava and Gula to meet with him in a warehouse, where he voices his frustration against Ira's suspicions. Gula concurs with Aced's sentiments, but Ava tries to defend Ira, which aggravates Aced further as he believes Ira should trust in them. Aced then proposes to form an alliance between their Unions, prompting Ava to remind him that alliances are forbidden. Gula inquires if Aced intends on joining forces to confront Ira, and Aced claims that he wishes to focus on fighting the approaching darkness while Ira is busy identifying the traitor. While Ava declines, Gula accepts Aced's offer for an alliance, but specifies that it is only between them, as he does not want to involve the members of the Leopardus Union. Gula then asks Aced if Ira and Invi are aware of his plan, who admits that he did not confide in Ira, but he had asked Invi to join them. Upon Invi's arrival, Aced reveals his alliance with Gula and extends the offer to her as well, but Invi rejects him, seeing this as a defiant act in pursuit of power and accusing that Aced has been tainted by darkness. Conversely, Aced retorts that it is Invi who has been tainted by darkness, as she reports their actions back to Ira and could possibly be conspiring with him. With this, Aced parts ways with his fellow Foretellers.
Skuld, Player and Chirithy are brought to a stop when they see that the source of the crashing was in fact the Anguis Foreteller, Master Invi, and Master Aced, battling across the rooftops of Daybreak Town. Skuld questions why the Foretellers are fighting one another, stating that it seems as though Ephemera was right; confusing Player and Chirithy. Skuld reveals that what she was going to say earlier was actually something that Ephemera told her in her dreams; that the end of the world was drawing near. Chirithy asks what Skuld means, and while she doesn’t know, she does remark on how the end always comes suddenly and without warning – similarly to how Ephemera disappeared.

|After Player successfully completes the Dark Corridor Trials, Chirithy reports back to Aced, who is pleased to hear of their progress, but Chirithy questions the wisdom of assigning such a dangerous mission. A few months later, Gula suspends their partnership, stating that the alliance is meaningless since the alleged impending darkness has yet to come and Aced has not rallied anyone else to his cause. As Aced starts to object, Gula accidentally slips that Invi agrees with the dissolution of their alliance. Aced realizes that Invi ordered Gula to terminate their alliance, though Gula defends that it is his choice to follow through with it. Aced reminds Gula that the traitor has not been discovered yet, though Gula cites this to be the motivation for his actions as he is unable to trust anyone else. Aced counters that Gula will not win against the darkness on his own, but an apologetic Gula remains firm in his decision and leaves.

A few months later, an enraged Aced attacks Invi in Daybreak Town for her interference. Despite Invi's attempts to reason with Aced, Aced remains adamant that they need to defy the Master's teachings to protect the world and create alliances against the looming darkness. Invi deems Aced to be the traitor and attacks him with her Keyblade. He accuses Ephemer of having befriended the Player solely to acquire information, and states that he eliminated Ephemer for this suspicion. Although Chirithy assures Aced that will not retaliate against him, Player decides to avenge Ephemer, but Aced emerges as the victor. A weakened Aced is soon confronted by Gula, who finds him collapsed in a warehouse. Gula reveals the incomplete nature of their copies of the Book of Prophecies and the contents of the Lost Page, and that the Master tasked him to find and stop the traitor, much to Aced's disbelief and rage. Unable to forgive Gula for silently standing by while the Foretellers fought each other, Aced cuts Gula down with his Keyblade. However, before he can finish Gula off, Ava arrives and begs Aced to stop, who consents and leaves Ava to tend to Gula on her own.

As Aced hobbles through the streets of Daybreak Town, he finds himself face-to-face with Ira. Believing that Ira had come to finish him off, Aced collapses to the ground and requests Ira make his end swift. However, Ira explains that he will not eliminate Aced, as he wants to fulfill the role he was given by the Master. As it is forbidden to change the events of the future, Ira wants to continue working with Aced to ensure that light lives on, stressing that they cannot afford to lose any of the Foretellers. Aced is touched to hear that Ira still considers him to be a comrade and informs him that Gula has the Lost Page and that he has been using it to discern the identity of the traitor. While Gula claimed this to be his role, Aced remains unsure, as he is incapable of forgiving Gula's actions. Advising Aced to keep Gula's role a secret, Ira sets out to find the latter and retrieve the Lost Page.

In the time that follows, Gula begins collecting more Lux in order to summon Kingdom Hearts and force the Master to return in order to avert the Keyblade War. Subsequently, in order to maintain the balance, Ira and Aced also begin collecting more Lux, as the Keyblade War draws nearer.

Hearing an argument between Player, Skuld, and several Keyblade wielders from different Unions in which one claims that the Keyblade War is already upon them, Aced affirms this as the truth. Aced lectures the wielders of the importance of unity within their Unions and that the strength of a Union is determined by its righteousness which is proven through battle. When Skuld begins to object, Aced notes that she is part of Ava's Dandelions and points out that what Ava is doing with the Dandelions is also a display of power. Player steps forward to challenge Aced, who then easily defeats them and disqualifies them as a Keyblade wielder.Quest 675: Master Aced Upon Ira's arrival to the scene, he rebukes Aced for raising his Keyblade against another wielder. Aced reveals he will unify all of the Unions and appoints himself as leader once he banished Ira and the other Foretellers. Ira dismisses his foolish plot and warns Aced that his arrogance will lead to his downfall. Aced states that he will be waiting at the place of the final battle before he departs.

Aced is a fearless individual with a strong sense of justice. Prior to the Keyblade War, Aced wanted to take over for the Master of Masters someday and expresses great disappointment when he is not elected to lead the Foretellers in favor of Ira. However, it is because of his straightforward nature that the Master assigned Aced to be Ira's right-hand man and directs him to guide Ira on the right path, a role he reluctantly accepted at the time.

In spite of this, Aced is arrogant, short-tempered, and self-righteous, openly defying the Master's orders against creating alliances and later plotting to usurp Ira as leader of the Unions. He is rather puritanical in his behavior, and assumes the worst about people and Unions, thinking that Ava gathering the Dandelions, or the Unions collecting more Lux, are obscene displays of power which bring about disunity, and need to be stopped. His philosophy and mindset are that of bloodlust, holding an adamant belief that the righteousness of a person or a Union was proven through battle, and he is quick to shut down anyone who opposes his mindset.

Aced possesses an unforgiving nature, declaring that he will never forgive Gula standing by while the Foretellers fought amongst themselves while withholding knowledge of the traitor and attacking him when Gula assumed that he was the traitor. When he learns that Invi persuaded Gula to dissolve their alliance, Aced vows that she would pay for her interference and attacks her a few months later as payback.

Aced wields a Keyblade that is the bulkiest among the Foretellers' Keyblades. The handle is gray, and the guard and outer base are jagged and dark blue/teal in color. A brown bear with red eyes is set at the base. The shaft is brown with a very wide black area in the middle. Cream engravings adorn the dark area, the topmost of which resembles Terra's Mark. The end of the blade curves back towards the base, and this and a bit protruding from that side form the Keyblade's C-shaped teeth. The Keychain consists of red gems connected by a brownish chain and a brown token with an Gazing Eye at the center.

The Ursus Keyblade, which is the thickest of the Foretellers's Keyblades, has a dark green hilt and a brown blade, with a rock motif and a bear image.

Aced is gifted in spatial magic, creating rifts in the air that can suck in enemies. Aced possesses incredible physical prowess, being able to create craters and crack the battlefield with just few hits. He has also shown himself to be extremely resilient as despite having been badly beaten from being overpowered by Ava, Invi and Gula simultaneously, he was still able to dispatch Gula without much effort.

The guard is made of entirely dark-teal stone with some reaching up into the blade. The handle is a stone-grey architectural column. The hilt showcases the symbol of the Ursus Union: A bear. The Keyblade's teeth are a pincer-like shape, a "bear claw" if you will. The shaft of the Keyblade features intricate designs, two of which resemble hearts, one small and incomplete at the bottom, the other large and long. Story[edit]

Before Kingdom Hearts χ[edit]

Aced is given a Keyblade forged from his own heart by the Master of Masters, who takes Aced, Ava, Gula, Invi, Ira, and Luxu as his apprentices. Aced eventually achieves the rank of Keyblade Master alongside his fellow apprentices.[citation needed]

Without warning, the Master disappears from the world, and although the Foretellers actively seek him out, they are unable to locate him. Upholding the Master's teachings, Aced and the other Foretellers begin recruiting Keyblade wielders to each of their Unions, utilizing the powers of their copies of the Book of Prophecies in the form of Medals to aid their wielders in collecting Lux to maintain the balance of power. Having watched Player defeat countless Heartless throughout Daybreak Town, Aced commends them on their abilities. Aced suggests that Player should fight alongside the other Ursus Union members and then leaves them to defeat a Darkside. Once the Darkside is defeated, Aced reappears and warns Player that there are others who collect light for nefarious purposes. He allows Player to discern who walks the path of darkness before he departs. Quest 3: Combat 102

Chirithy asks if that means that there really is a traitor among them, to which Aced states that he is not willing to believe that yet. Quest 250: Heartless Havoc: Fountain Square

One night, Player is shown a dream by Chirithy, in which Aced and the other Foretellers meet with the Master in the Foretellers' Chamber, though Nightmare Chirithy quickly puts a stop to this dream. Quest 351: A Job Never Done Pt. 1

After Player successfully completes the Dark Corridor Trials, Chirithy reports back to Aced, who is pleased to hear of their progress, but Chirithy questions the wisdom of assigning such a dangerous mission. Aced laments that he has no choice but to hasten Player's training, as he must strengthen their resistance to darkness as quickly as possible and obtain as many warriors as they can get on the side of light.

Invi deems Aced to be the traitor and attacks him with her Keyblade. When Player, Chirithy, and Skuld enter the Foretellers' Chamber in search of Ephemer, they are caught by Aced. Aced divulges he caught Ephemer in the Foretellers' Chamber several days before and that Ephemer's Union collects Lux for a reason conflicting with that of the Player's Union. He accuses Ephemer of having befriended the Player solely to acquire information, and states that he eliminated Ephemer for this suspicion. Although Chirithy assures Aced that will not retaliate against him, Player decides to avenge Ephemer, but Aced emerges as the victor. As Player is cast to the ground, the façade of the Foretellers' Chamber fades away and the group find themselves in the sewers with Ava, who explains that she disguised herself as Aced in order to test Player and Skuld. Quest 555: The Clock Tower Pt. 10

Player steps forward to challenge Aced, who then easily defeats them and disqualifies them as a Keyblade wielder. Quest 675: Master Aced Upon Ira's arrival to the scene, he rebukes Aced for raising his Keyblade against another wielder. Despite Aced's attempts to defend himself, Ira tells Aced that his bloodlust that drew him to their location. Aced argues that the Keyblade War is not unavoidable, and that the other Foretellers, including Ira, are becoming desperate to collect more Lux, and blames Ira and other Foretellers for intensifying the situation. Aced reveals he will unify all of the Unions and appoints himself as leader once he banished Ira and the other Foretellers. Ira dismisses his foolish plot and warns Aced that his arrogance will lead to his downfall. Aced states that he will be waiting at the place of the final battle before he departs.

During final confrontation in the Badlands, Player encounters Aced first. Player prepares to fight Aced, who welcomes the opportunity, claiming that he wants such a power for his own Union. After the battle, an impressed Aced applauds their strength, but cites this as the reason why he must defeat them. Before Aced can finish Player off, however, Ira steps in and protects Player. Incensed, Aced sets his sights on Ira, chasing after him as he retreats from Aced's attacks.

Kingdom Hearts III[edit]

Aced meets with the other Foretellers, excluding Ava, and Luxu in the Keyblade Graveyard. Tired of Luxu's crypticness in explaining why he brought them back, Aced demands loudly for his comrade to explain the role the Master gave him.

Design[edit]

Aced is a muscular young man who hides his face under a dark grey bear mask. His tan, hooded cloak covers a robe, shirt, and sash that are all light brown in coloration and have black embroidering. Gold tassels appear on the front of Aced's cloak.

Aced's name is derived from the word acedia, which means "sloth" in Latin and is represented by a bear in the Ancrene Wisse.

Personality[edit]

"The fearless Aced, who wore the mask of the bear, was given his role to support their brand-new leader, Ira."
—Chirithy, Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover

Abilities[edit]

Main article: Aced's Keyblade
