Monstro: Difference between revisions

In ''Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories'' a memory version of Monstro can be explored at [[Castle Oblivion]]. The world is explored through boxed-in areas which draw inspirations from the various Chambers from the previous game. In cutscenes, areas such as '''{{a|Chamber 6}}''' and the '''{{a|Mouth}}''' are visited. The battle against the [[Parasite Cage]] takes place in an area similar to the {{a|Stomach}}, though the floor is mostly covered in stomach acid and there are no platforms along the wall to jump on. Lastly Sora visits an area similar to the {{a|Throat}} during a rumble against some [[Shadow]]s. However, the area is a lot bigger with a circular arena in the middle.  

In ''Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance'', [[Riku]] arrive at dream version of Monstro found within the Sleeping World of [[Prankster's Paradise]]. The opening area is {{nihongo|'''{{a|Monstro: Mouth}}'''|モンストロ:口|Monsutoro: Kuchi}}, similarly designed to its ''Kingdom Hearts'' counterpart. However, Geppetto's boat is now on the left side of the mouth instead. There's also only one entrance at the end now as opposed to two which it previously had. Across the water are also various barrels Riku can use to move around on. Leaving the Mouth takes Riku to the {{nihongo|'''{{a|Monstro: Gullet}}'''|モンストロ:食道|Monsutoro: Shokudō}}, a massive room with a number of ledges and numerous piles of wood. Beyond here is the {{nihongo|'''{{a|Monstro: Belly}}'''|モンストロ:胃袋|Monsutoro: Ibukuro|lit. Monstro: Stomach"}}, a room with numerous smaller chambers that can be flipped upside down with the numerous uvulas dotting the area. The largest part of this area has a HP-depleting acidic floor, much like a human stomach would have with {{w|hydrochloric acid}}. After the belly is the {{nihongo|'''{{a|Monstro: Cavity}}'''|モンストロ:腹部|Monsuoro: Fukubu|lit. "Monstro: Abdomen"}}, a large blue-colored room, which can also be flipped upside down. The area appears at first quite open and barren, however, by hitting a specific uvula a lot of platforms will arise from the ground transforming the room radically. At the end is a long-winding path that leads to the {{nihongo|'''{{a|Monstro: Bowels}}'''|モンストロ:腸|Monsutoro: Chō}}, a rectangular area that is mostly barren with the exception of two uvulas that allow Riku to flip the room.

 

During Sora's visit to Prankster's Paradise Monstro will find himself trapped in ice with the surrounding area - called the {{nihongo|'''Sea Surface'''|海上|Kaijō}} - serving as a boss arena for the [[Chill Clawbster]]. Towards the end of the battle Monstro will be encapsulated in a colossal bubble Sora can ride to chase after the [[Dream Eater]] boss.

If Sora goes to Monstro after Riku has been possessed by [[Ansem, Seeker of Darkness]], "Riku" shows up to kidnap Pinocchio. Sora fights the Parasite Cage with Donald and Goofy. When Sora encounters "Riku" with Pinocchio, "Riku" mockingly asks Sora if he has forgotten his best friend, to which Sora responds that he is not Riku. "Riku" then summons the Parasite Cage and leaves through a portal of darkness.

After learning from the [[Blue Fairy]] that Geppetto has been swallowed by Monstro and that Jiminy and Pinocchio has jumped of a cliff into the ocean to follow, Sora quickly goes off to rescue them. Once he's gone underwater, he soon finds Jiminy and Pinocchio, swimming away from Monstro. However, the force of the water pulls him into the chaos, and Pinocchio and Jiminy are then swallowed by Monstro. Sora gives chase, but a [[Dream Eater]] appears and freezes Monstro in an iceberg, which floats to the top of the ocean. Sora follows and fights the [[Chill Clawbster]] Dream Eater on the clusters of the frozen Monstro. During the battle, Sora frees Monstro, encasing him in a bubble. The Chill Clawbster is then defeated and attempts to flee, but is then swallowed by Monstro. Sora falls into the ocean and is blown away when Monstro sneezes at him. Sora wakes up on a beach, assuming that Prankster's Paradise was destroyed not long after Monstro swallowed everyone, and also recalls how they soon escaped and ended up in [[Traverse Town]]. The [[Sleeping Keyhole]] then appears and Sora unlocks it.

Riku finds himself inside Monstro and spots Geppetto, who is looking for Pinocchio. After hearing the situation from Geppetto, Riku offers his help and begins searching for Pinocchio with Jiminy, who informs Riku that Pinocchio wandered off with a man in a [[black coat]]. They eventually catches up with Pinocchio and the unknown figure in the black coat. Pinocchio apologizes to Jiminy for just vanishing, and Jiminy notes that by being aware of his own mistakes, he's starting to learn what it takes to be a real boy. The unknown figure removes his hood to reveal himself to be [[Dark Riku]] and disappears into a [[corridor of darkness]]. Jiminy questions what he just witnessed as Riku explains that he gave into the [[darkness]] once and it has come back to haunt him several times ever since. Pinocchio and Jiminy proceed to ask Riku if he's got any friends he can rely on when times get tough. He smiles and says that he has one friend in particular who he could never do without. They then hear a massive roar shaking the inner areas of Monstro. Riku goes to investigate and orders Jiminy and Pinocchio to head back to Geppetto.

 

He finds the [[Char Clawbster]] Dream Eater and destroys it. Afterwards, Riku watches as Pinocchio and Geppetto are happily reunited. He ponders on the fact to why this world was trapped in a past version of itself and remembers [[Yen Sid]]'s words of wisdom. Once the [[Keyhole]] reveals itself, Riku unlocks it.
