One day Master Odin informed everyone that the upperclassmen of Keyblade wielders had gone missing, including the sister of a fellow classmate, Baldr, and that his apprentices were to split into two groups to search the worlds. Xehanort traveled with Eraqus and another apprentice, heading to [[Agrabah]] first. Xehanort quickly realized that the world was still being reborn from the destruction of the [[Keyblade War]], as no humans were in the world. Their search continued to [[Wonderland]], where they avoided the insanity of the [[Queen of Hearts]], but left Xehanort pondering if slaying those controlled by darkness is also necessary to protect the world.

Redoubling their search for the missing upperclassman, this time starting in [[the Dwarf Woods]], Xehanort, Eraqus, and Vor attempt to ask the Queen and the Magic Mirror where they can find the Keyblade wielders. Rather then help, the Queen forces the three into fighting the mirror, while she escapes. After defeating the Magic Mirror within its realm, the trio finally find one of the wielders, Vidar, who claims he cannot return to Scala yet, as he is embarking on a mission of own, and convinces Vor to join him and the rest of the upperclassmen. Vor, afraid that she will not become a true Keyblade Master if she does not make new relations and broadens her horizons, hopes that her assistance in the upperclassmen's plans will facilitate her ascension to Keyblade Master.

Returning back to Scala, Xehanort, Eraqus, Bragi, Urd, and Hermod contemplate what to do next. Xehanort and Eraqus argue over the morality of Vidar's plans with Eraqus believing he has lost his path, while Xehanort believes that not everything is so black and white. Eventually, the group decides to split up once again, with Eraqus and Bragi returning to Dwarf Woods and attempt to ask the Magic Mirror again and Xehanort, Urd, and Hermod searching a new world, [[Beast's Castle]]. There, they learn that the upperclassmen have stolen the Rose from the Beast in an attempt to upset the world order for a specific goal. Perplexed and intrigued, Xehanort and his fellow classmates return to Agrabah, which has slowly begun to repopulate after their last visit.

Upon the trio arriving in Agrabah, the power-hungry vizor, Jafar, attempts to manipulate them into retrieving the magic lamp for him from the Cave of Wonders, claiming that it's in an effort to help his city fully rebuild. Suspecting Jafar's true ambitions, but intrigued about the lamp and the cave, Xehanort agrees to help Jafar in order to learn more. Upon investigating the cave, the group run into Eraqus and Bragi, who are at the cave for the same reason. The group surmises that the upperclassmen are after artifacts critical to the order of each world and the magic lamp is one such item.
