Ephemer meets up with the player again finding them cornered by little Cy-Bugs saying that he was chasing after the Darkling which led him to the Player and soon were up against a giant Cy-Bug but manage to destroy it.{{storylink|Quest 898: Ralph! Pt. 6}} He and the Player manage to corner the Darkling defeating it but upon hearing it say "Not you" same as before Ephemer begins to wonder what does it means. Afterwards the duo sees the Darkling get swallowed by a Cy-Bug and fly off believing the two fused together, needing to stop it before it's too late they chase after it.{{storylink|Quest 900: Darkling Distress Pt. 2}}
They find the Darkling Cy-Bug attacking the commander and expressed confidence on beating it and after doing so he learned from the commander that a soldier had gone MIA until being informed by Felix that the soldier was Ralph. {{storylink|Quest 905: The Threat}}
Once brought up to speed, Ephemer asks the Player to keep looking into the glitches and the link between them and Ralph while he heads back to Daybreak Town to inform the others. Seeing the Player sad that they have to continue alone Ephemer assures that the Player was given the task out of trust and be fine on their own when the Player perks up he says that their hearts will always be connected before leaving. {{storylink|Quest 906: The Investigation}}
