Whichever character defeats it is rewarded with an HP bonus. If Riku defeats it, his maximum HP can exceed Sora's. If Sora defeats it, then Sora's maximum HP will tie with Riku's.

The Lord Kyroo is a Dream Eater that appears in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. The Lord Kyroo is an optional boss that Sora and Riku encounter in several worlds.

Story

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance

When Riku returns to the Nave in La Cité des Cloches, Riku will encounter the Lord Kyroo. When first encountered, the Lord Kyroo will ask for a fight. Upon accepting its challenge, Riku will face off against the Lord Kyroo and its army of Chief Kyroos and Sir Kyroos. If Riku doesn't defeat the Lord Kyroo within a certain amount of time, the Lord Kyroo will retreat before blowing a kiss. Sora will then encounter the Lord Kyroo at the Promontory in Prankster's Paradise, where the Lord Kyroo will offer the same challenge to Sora. If the Sora doesn't defeat the Lord Kyroo, the Lord Kyroo will retreat to the Moonlight Wood in Symphony of Sorcery waiting for Riku. If Riku doesn't defeat the Lord Kyroo this time, the Lord Kyroo will retreat, repeating its location and challenge again and again to Sora and Riku until they defeat the Lord Kyroo.

Design

Etymology

"Kaeru" (蛙) and "Ouji" (王子) mean "frog" and "prince" in Japanese, respectively.

Strategy

As a Nightmare

The Lord Kyroo is an enemy that appears only one time in Symphony of Sorcery. As Riku, go back from the save point in Snowgleam Wood, get on the snowflake platforms, and head right. There is a small passage and clearing. Head left down a Flowmotion rail. At the base there is a spawn point with three Sir Kyroos, and defeating them all will cause Lord Kyroo to appear. Other Nightmare Lord Kyroos can appear in regular Portals like the one in Monstro's Mouth.

As a Rare Nightmare

A Rare Nightmare Lord Kyroo can be found in several worlds in a determined sequence. It can be found in Prankster's Paradise on Promontory or in the Nave in La Cite de Cloches on Riku's side. If it flees during the course of the battle, it will go to the other world. After these two worlds, it can be found in Symphony of Sorcery at Snowgleam Wood. Unlike other Nightmares, it will not immediately attack Sora or Riku. Instead, they can talk to it and challenge it to a battle. If they accept, the fight starts. Otherwise, it will stay there, even if Sora or Riku leave for another world.

Once the battle starts, the Lord Kyroo begins summoning many Chef Kyroos and Sir Kyroos to defend it. After seventy seconds elapse, the Lord Kyroo will retreat from battle and proceed to the next world in its rotation. It is possible to defeat it in one round with a powerful enough character. If it is not defeated at Symphony of Sorcery, it will come back to Prankster Paradise, restarting the cycle.

It is possible to retreat from the battle into another area, allowing one to reattempt it from the beginning. If the Lord Kyroo is defeated, the battle will end if all other enemies have also been defeated.

The Lord Kyroo much like the Sir Kyroo will panic and burn up for a while if anything with fire is inflicted upon it, allowing successive fire-based attacks to stun it for each time if one needs to press an assault.

Whichever character defeats it is rewarded with an HP bonus. If Riku defeats it, his maximum HP can exceed Sora's. If Sora defeats it, then Sora's maximum HP will tie with Riku's.

As a Spirit

As an ally in the form of a Spirit, Lord Kyroo is one of the more stronger Spirits in the game, being able to dive at opponents (with Ribbit Assault) and confuse them with its aforementioned kiss attack. It mainly focuses on thunder magic, but it can also cast Mini and Curaga, allowing it to be a very powerful support-type party member as well.

As mentioned before, its battle patterns are more akin to Sir Kyroo, as well as having the same weakness to fire which causes it to panic while burning up. Like the other two Kyroos, Lord Kyroo can also rush to the player's side and block attacks for them, as well as being ready to counter said attacks.

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance

The Lord Kyroo Recipe is obtained after defeating the Lord Kyroo. The Lord Kyroo can be created through four different recipes.

Trivia

  • Despite there being a Rare Nightmare version of the Lord Kyroo, it is somehow not recorded in its Dream Eater entry in the reports.
