The Moogle Shop is a place where items, cards, or panels can be bought, sold, and synthesised. These shops appear in most worlds of the Kingdom Hearts series, usually near Save Points. The moogles operate the vast majority of shops via hologram because, according to Jiminy Cricket, they hate getting their pom-poms ruffled. Radiant Garden and Twilight Town are the only worlds that have shops run by moogles in person.

Aside from Moogle Shops, very few places sell items and indeed Moogle Shops are the only store in most games of the series. The same items are on offer in Moogle Shops of all worlds. More items are typically unlocked for purchase after visiting new worlds or fulfilling some criteria.

Moogle Shops are the only places to feature item synthesis (アイテム合成 Aitemu gōsei?), whereby the moogles craft advanced items in exchange for synthesis materials that are typically collected from enemies and chests. The rarest items in the game are usually unlocked through synthesis, including the Ultima Weapon, Sora's most powerful Keychain. Synthesising items unlocks synthesis for more powerful items, which usually require rarer materials. Some items can only be synthesised after obtaining their respective recipes, which are generally rewards from bosses, minigames, or chests. Moogle Shops can also offer other types of synthesis, such as panel synthesis in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and upgrading Keyblades in Kingdom Hearts III.
