Wikis work by consensus. It's not okay for a couple of users to make a decision on behalf of the rest of the community. If you want to make a big change, bring it up on an open talk page/forum and provided there's not an overwhelming objection from the community, go ahead and do it. Be careful about making situations personal, just because someone has a different opinion to yours.
