Images

...you do realize that I can't move every image and correct every link in the same edit, right?

Can you make up your mind as to what you're going to yell at me for not having done while I'm in the middle of doing it?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 14:23, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Mature, Kryten. When a half-hour goes by between your moving an image six times and not fixing the articles, what am I supposed to think? - Challenge Sigil KHD.pngEternal Nothingness XIIIChallenge Sigil KHD.png 14:25, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
...that I'm fixing the page that they all go onto first? You know, the one you commented on?
I do have a job that I need to be doing, and just because I post a maintenance template doesn't mean I'm specifically telling you to do it; they're usually reminders for me. Seriously, chill out."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 14:44, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
I'd take your own advice. If I were seriously yelling at you, then I'd be using all caps. It's more like my thought process/reaction because I really don't get you. Don't take it personally. - Challenge Sigil KHD.pngEternal Nothingness XIIIChallenge Sigil KHD.png 14:49, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Review

Could you please pull your review notes into something like a structured review form? --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 18:10, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

I'm sorry? Not quite sure what you're asking. - Challenge Sigil KHD.pngEternal Nothingness XIIIChallenge Sigil KHD.png 18:18, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

I'm trying to get the Review Points into a review article. While I can do maggosh's easily enough, you have a ton of bullets points, in no particular order. It would be a big help if you could pull your points into an article, so that I don't have to worry about losing any of the points you try to make. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 18:25, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

IRC

I wasn't replying because I had to go break my fast. If you want to talk, you can come on now since I'm back online. Erry 15:44, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

I'm on the FF Wiki IRC right now, but could we talk later, perhaps? - Challenge Sigil KHD.pngEternal Nothingness XIIIChallenge Sigil KHD.png 16:04, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

Friend Cure

  1. My original position was that captions weren't needed for most of these. I am trying to clean up a frankly ridiculous situation caused by certain editors (who shall remain nameless) insisting on captions that are totally redundant, and other editors (who shall remain nameless) insisting on fighting over whether periods should be in them instead of just using a grammatical sentence in the first place. Meanwhile, I have my own work to get done, so I am fixing these sentences to the bare modicum of grammatical accuracy while trying to get back to my mounting todo list, both wiki-wise and real-life-wise. I usually do these edits while at work, where I do not have access to the game and usually can't even see the image, so I have no resources to make a relevant, useful caption; for that I apologize, but it's also totally unfair for me to keep being told that I am being lazy or being criticized when I haven't done enough in taking time out of my busy schedule to clean up the messes other editors are making.
  2. I left your caption alone, it's a good one. The nonsense I was referring to was the bordering on trollish "looking to cause conflict" controversy about periods. As I've said before, this whole mess could be avoided by removing the captions altogether, or just making small and easy changes so that the captions are grammatical sentences that would naturally use a period.
  3. The format for ability articles is to describe the effect of the ability in the lead, as per the consensus of the editors who were active at the time.
  4. In Olympus Coliseum, all commands used are converted into "compiled commands" unique to that world. Friend Cure (possibly Group Cure, I would need to check the game) is the compiled command that maps to curative commands.192.249.47.177 14:57, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

IRC

You've been repeatedly joining and immediately leaving the IRC channel. There have been multiple complaints about this behavior, which I believe you have been informed of, and it is also against the wiki policies; per the staff page, staff are supposed to make themselves available on the IRC as long as they are active so that other editors and readers can ask them for support with the wiki. As a more compelling but less day-to-day example, difficulty in getting a hold of other admins nearly prevented the Square Enix trip from happening, and may have crippled our relationship with the SE rep due to our inability to get the reviews and release activities done in time.

In summary, it's vital that the non-resigned staff be available on the IRC if they have the ability to be, even if they are just lurking the channel."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 03:31, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

I do that for my own reasons. No where do I see it plainly stated in black and white that "staff members must be on the IRC at all times". - Challenge Sigil KHD.pngEternal Nothingness XIIIChallenge Sigil KHD.png 03:41, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
As I said, "per the staff page". I included a link, too.
Also, one of the larger issues is that there have been multiple complaints. Even if it wasn't plainly stated, consensus policy, the fact that the community is unhappy with it would be reason enough to make it policy. As I said before, our staff's cavalier attitude about being available for support nearly did and still may have sabotaged our relationship with SE, and is currently sabotaging our relationship with our own community."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." Walkthroughs

There's a difference between sounding robotic, and not assuming the reader is illiterate.

"Before the player attempts to battle Julius,"
Self-evident by the fact that it's the beginning of the strategy.
"it is highly recommended that he or she make an effort to obtain the Unbound Keyblade by clearing all of Riku's Secret Portals."
What if they don't make an effort, but still get it? What if they do make an effort, but still fail? Do they need to equip the Unbound, or is just trying to get it a vital part of defeating Julius? And why do we have to restate here how to get the Unbound? Not to mention that the Unbound is a bad Keyblade for the suggested strategy, since it is Attack/Reality Shift-focused instead of Magic-focused like the End of Pain or Divewing.
"A level three Attack Gain and Magic Gain drop bonus and a full Drop Gauge "
These are actual items with actual names.
"Fill the first four slots of Riku's Command Deck with variations of the Balloon spell; this will be his main source of offense. In the next slot, place Dark Firaga, which is highly valuable for its strong homing capabilities and serves as a strong alternative to the Balloon spells. "
This is tedious to read; the point that the writer is trying to communicate is, "Ballon spells and Dark Firaga spells are useful because they can home in on Julius," something which it actually has trouble communicating.
"Fill the last three slots of the Command Deck with Elixirs; these are more efficient when it comes to restoring Riku's HP than Curaga spells."
We agreed, as a community, when we started the walkthrough project, that the preferred strategies we post should not require grinding or farming (such as excess Elixirs). Therefore, while Elixirs can be mentioned, the strategy should allow for Curagas or one-HP runs as well.
"The player stands the best chance of obtaining victory when Riku is above level 50,"
Same here. We agreed that if a strategy requires you to do excess level grinding, a better strategy should be written. This game is designed so that you can complete it at level 1, and we are both looking poorly informed and not accomodating challenge-run readers by posting strategies that rely on grinding.
"First description of Julius's attacks"
This was basically just restating, twice, that you should use Dark Roll or, if you're feeling frisky, Dark Barrier.
"If the player"
Another thing we agreed sounded stupid, since none of the players have actually been to Traverse Town ever.
"In the end, this battle is all about maintaining a safe distance between Riku and Julius, as well as maintaining the rhythm of casting Ballon-type spells or Dark Firaga whenever the boss's attacks miss."
This is not an essay, and the reader hopefully absorbed this advice the first three times it was mentioned at the beginning of the section. It is pure fluff.
"It is highly recommended that the player fight Julius with the Nintendo 3DS's 3D at full blast so that he or she can better judge the distance between Riku and Julius at all times."
I removed this mainly because it's silly, because "highly recommended" always sounds assinine when talking about a video game, and because, well, it didn't ring true for me.
"When the player finally manages to defeat Julius, he or she receives the Ultima Weapon Keyblade."
This isn't even strategy.

In addition, we all understand that you weren't active when a lot of our current policies were drafted, especially in regards to formats and walkthroughs, but I'd appreciate it if, when you disagreed with the policies, you opened a community discussion about it instead of attacking me when I try to inform you of them. Frankly, it's unprofessional."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 19:33, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Behavior

It has come to me to confront you about your behavior in not only the IRC as mentioned previously but also your wiki behavior. You refuse to cooperate with your colleagues and go apeshit crazy when someone tries to confront you and pin it on Kryten. This time it's coming from me. You really need to calm down when you're working on the wiki and simply do what you want to do without causing a whole ruckus and embarrassing not only yourself but the wiki too as you are an administrator and by default, a representing candidate of the wiki, or at least a major candidate. I will echo what Kryten has said and the behavior that you are doing is clearly not helping us as wiki staff and as a fansite with relations to Square Enix. You really need to get your act together as you're clearly on thin ice and close to being terminated of your adminship on this wiki. Speaking of wikis anyways, I noticed that you made your way to the #FFWiki channel, so how exactly is it that you're there, not only for the fact that you are there, on a channel for a wiki that you have no representation of but that you stayed in that channel for around 2 hours, while when you enter our channel you come in and if you do not find a "close friend of yours", you leave within seconds. That there is not really showing how dedicated you are to your position as admin, I mean yeah sure you log in to the wiki every now and then but is it really worthwhile for the site to have you on if you're not gonna cooperate with the editors on the site? Especially when you're not present on the IRC channel when, like Kryten said, you should try to make it to the IRC with every bit of time you have left. I'm sorry but someone had to say it and I chose to do it because I myself am fed up with seeing my colleagues being treated like trash by someone who is doing nothing when they have the title of administrator. Really, ENX? Has it really come to this?

Try to stop being so negative and take a more direct approach to helping the Wiki. Erry 00:39, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
