Discussion

Is it a bit early to introduce this page? --Auror. plus the great Andrachome 23:57, June 9, 2010 (UTC)

Kinda, yeah.--NinjaSheik 23:59, June 9, 2010 (UTC)

Should it be deleted, there are sources that it exsists but still not quite sure. [Ѧüя◎ґ]

It has been confirmed to exist so it should stay Square Enix tweeted about it It's on SE's like up for E3 And the voice actor for Jiminy Cricket wrote about it on his website. Kaiserlome 00:04, June 10, 2010 (UTC)Kaiserlome

That is true, but there was a discussion about this, and on the IRC. Well, if it's real, there's no use to deleting it...[Ѧüя◎ґ]

Eh, I'd let an admin decide if the article is worth keeping. However, like Neutra said here: suddenly creating the page with a lot of information to add might be a problem. Especially with conflicting edits. -_---Xion4ever 00:07, June 10, 2010 (UTC)

One-Winged Angel 17:23 June 9, 2010 - Why should R:c and c merge when Re:CoM is separate from CoM?

Yeah instead of merging why not make a seprate articles like Com and RE:Com instead of a merge one? --Cococrash11 01:13, June 10, 2010 (UTC)Cococrash11

For those who need third-party confirmation, Game Informer has it listed as confirmed to appear at E3 as well, so we'll probably hear a lot more during that week. Let's keep the articles separate for now, see what comes out during E3, and fix anything that needs it after we get more official info. Does that sound reasonable? BebopKate 03:03, June 10, 2010 (UTC)

Aww, it's in DS. I was hoping it would be in PSP. So does this mean it has the same graphics as Days?WingBlade

One could assume that there will be minor improvements to the graphics, but the gameplay graphics will still look like a PS1 on steroids and the cutscenes will be equal to PS2 quality cutscenes.--Pkthis 17:35, June 10, 2010 (UTC)

Vsymbol.png well keep in mind that RE:Com and Com were both released in NA and Japan and RE:Coded was NA only and its a port so why not we just wait untill more info and maybe consider merging the pages(and maybe finnaly changing the KH Wiki theme and puting RE:Coded in the Remakes and other titles section.)
I just thought - you know what they might do with it being on the DS? They could have it as a package with Mobile, since the two games work together on the phone. Kind of like FFIV DS with Whyt.Glorious CHAOS! 21:50, June 10, 2010 (UTC)

Well looking back, I recall new super Mario bros wii being released long after the ds version. They never ended up merging. Since recoded is basically a remake, it deserves it's own page as recoded - Re: Coded, not just a late release for a different platform. --Lordrogersmith6485 00:10, June 11, 2010 (UTC)

Re:COM has it's own page, also a remake. If that has it's own page, this has it's own page. The Yoshiman 97 00:32, June 11, 2010 (UTC)
New Super Mario Bros. Wii was a completely separate game from New Super Mario Bros. for DS from the beginning, not a remake. Anyway, we still have to see whether this is a remake or a straight port. Odds are there will be some differences, but we'll just have to wait until we get the news from E3. Right now we simply don't know. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 00:35, June 11, 2010 (UTC)

Well, if you want to look at the naming trend, "Re:" signifies a remake, whilst "Final Mix"

signifies a port with additions. Judging by the "Re:", I think it is safe to assume it is a remake, rather than a port. Therefore, it deserves its own page.

...you know, it's really hard to define a "trend" with only one entry.Glorious CHAOS! 04:21, June 12, 2010 (UTC)

Okay, so the article says the Re:coded will be released to Japan in Fall of 2010 right? Well that doesn't seem fair!!! First Japan gets the cell phone game, and now they get the DS too?? When does North America get their share of the game???!--KRoNoS 14:26, June 18, 2010 (UTC)

It's not surprising at all, the Japanese get the best version of every KH game. Why should that be different with Re:coded? I wouldn't be surprised if there is a BBS Final Mix announced at TGS later this year. --ShardofTruth 14:42, June 18, 2010 (UTC)

He also said that about KHII at the beginning and we all know what happend later. --ShardofTruth 22:06, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

If they do make a "Birth by Sleep Final Mix" it will probably be exactly the same as the english version, but ported. (they're pushing the limits of the PSP as-is, and Dissidia universal tuning sets a precedent.) Secondly the original coded was: 1. Only for a certain type of cell phone. 2. For a cell phone that sucked. 3. For a cell phone no-one in japan bought. 4.On a cell phone that couldn't be released internationally.

The DS, meanwhile is the most popular system in the world, already has a Kingdom Hearts game on it, and it's games will be usable on the backwards-compatible 3ds which will also have a KH game for it (and which I'm trading in for.) It is also very widespread in the west and a large money-maker.

Now square decided that since the original coded didn't have analog this shouldn't either, And to also update the gameplay, story, graphics, menu interface etc., and to release it in japan and the west at a rapid pace (since most of japan probably didn't have the orignal coded either, and it's going to have new stuff, such as a secret ending and hints at 3D, so the japanese should get it too.)Nomura said this would be "A treat for western audiences" and it is. It's on the system most available internationally, and localization is under way, so we might get it by the end of the holidays at the latest.(I even anticipate a simultaneous release,(based on already available english trailers, it seems they've started the english version already, even at E3.)

As for the "Greediness" of any particular culture, I would remind you that this complaining about fictionalized electronic media and whether or not you get it is "Greedy" in and of itself, especially when there are people starving in this world, probably in your hometown.204.211.185.107 17:41, August 3, 2010 (UTC)

I wasn't clear, I'm not talking about the fmv's, I'm talking about the dialogs that had 2D renders over 2D backgrounds. New info from Famitsu

- Re:Coded is being developed to allow more fans to experience the game, the DS was selected as most people have the hardware.

- Another reason for the hardware choice is that Coded was developed with the lack of analog in mind.

- The story will be the same as Coded, but aside from the event scenes the game will see many major changes.

- The game is targeting more casual gamers, and will have an adjustable difficulty setting like The World Ends With You.

- The design concept for Re:Coded includes elements from Coded with Birth by Sleep and Days.

- The co-director of Birth by Sleep is supervising the battle planning for the game, while the same team will be handling the map design.

- The level up system in the game will be an expansion of the ideas from 358 Days.

- There will be multiplayer elements, including avatars which can be unlocked featuring the characters from Birth by Sleep, as well as Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII.

- There will be a secret movie in the game.

- Currently 80% complete.

Does this look familiar, anyone? When I heard that BbS' team, or maybe just that one member of the team, was also working on Re:coded, I didn't know what to expect. But here we have it, Re:coded appears to have a very similar battle system as seen in BbS, but also features what would appear to be a combo/chain meter. • The original Kingdom Hearts Gameplay (Third Person Camera View)
  • A Megaman or Grand Chase like Battle Sys (Camera Side View)
  • A Final Fantasy like Battle Sys! (Attacking by Turn. Brings back memories.)

They said each world has it own gimmicks

That was all in the orignal coded and was mostly for certain segments. (the shooting and sidescrolling were for their respective worlds boss battles, and the turn based was... most of olympus coliseum actually.) the "main gameplay" however, is different for re:coded, and takes multiple cues from the birth by sleep battle system.

Starting to seem a bit heartless

Kingdom Hearts' biggest flaw has always been its ultra-confusing narrative, which would make even David Lynch spit his damn fine coffee all over the backward-speaking dwarf that lives in his subconscious. We'd like to tell you that Re:coded, a remake of a mobile phone game, has recaptured the innocence of the very first title but, well, see if you can keep a straight face for the following paragraph. After Jiminy Cricket discovers a mysterious entry in his journal, he enlists King Mickey to transform that journal into a digital version of the Kingdom Hearts realm. Inside this pretend world, a pretend Sora is recruited to retread his old adventures , and work out what the diary entry means. All of which seems to result as is the Kingdom Hearts way, in a rehash of the more popular worlds of the first and second games. Visit Agrobah and befriend Genie... again. Defeat Maleficent... again. Solve puzzles... hang on, we haven't done that one before.

Que Sora Sora

It seems this brave new world is a bit on the shaky side, and various digital blocks have popped up everywhere. You need to remove or manipulate these in order to advance in the game^. Aside from that it's business as usual, with all the Heartless-smaking and orb-collecting you'd expect. It should look as good as 358/2 Days but after the awkward controls of that effort we're pleased to see they've been simplified. But with the new control scheme comes, worryingly, a more casual focus - how exactly will that work when only 13 people on a Kingdom Hearts message board understands what the hell's going on?

2/5

^A process the game refers to as 'debugging', but which mostly resembles hitting the blocks with your keyblade.

Sora, Donal and Goofy refuse to let anyone take the Mickey. (Expect more Mickey-based gags of this 'quality' when the game's released later this year.)

Something doesn't seem right

I was comparing coded to Re:coded on the wiki and I found something that is weird. in coded it's says that sora is the key that connects everything with Namine, Roxas, Xion and Axel. but you look at Re:coded and it doesn't mention Axel. did they change it or something?

Axel was never mentioned in coded.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 03:56, October 13, 2010 (UTC)

well it mentions it on the wiki on how they were connected. I'm still confused on what going on.

He appears at the end, along with Roxas and Xion, during Namine's talk. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 04:18, October 13, 2010 (UTC)

In Re:Coded too? if so then why is it not mentioned on the wiki?

'cause I keep taking it out. I thought we had said that Axel is just in the background in that scene; did we decide differently at some point?(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 16:38, October 13, 2010 (UTC)

Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded Ultimania – Scenario Mysteries

Interview with director Tetsuya Nomura

Same as always, this is our chance to toss questions at director Tetsuya Nomura having to do with the story revealed in Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded. We’ll try to ask about the secret event from Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and the mysteries involving Kingdom Hearts III as well! (Interviewer: Ohno Yuuko)

Data Sora can newly obtain a legitimate Keyblade during his adventure, but are there changes to the real Keyblade when that happens?

Nomura: No, it’s a data version the entire time. However like with the first Keyblade, it wasn’t created by someone else. It comes from the heart’s connections with the data, hinting towards the story theme, “Can a heart be born in an existence made of data?”

During Re:Coded, Namine seems to have explained the reason for the “pain” mentioned in the journal to Sora and company, but why does she take the roundabout method of accessing the data in the Jiminy Journal and adding to it?

Nomura: At the point of time when Namine explained Sora’s secret in the real world, she already knew that by the time Sora and company woke up she would be gone. She thought she wouldn’t be able to speak to them directly. Thus she left a note in Jiminy’s Journal, however she didn’t presume what sort of form the meaning of the message would take when presented to Sora and company. Therefore Jiminy’s Journal was made into data according to the King and co.’s assumptions.

Was the message presented in Jiminy’s Journal prepared entirely by Namine herself?

Nomura: The very first message, “We must return to free them from their torment,” was the only one by Namine, however the messages “Their torment has been lessened” etc. were transmitted by the data itself when Sora eliminated the bugs, implying that restoring the data would bring him closer to understanding the mystery of the message.

As for the outbreak of bugs in Jiminy’s Journal, did they accidentally appear as a result of Namine adding data? Or did Namine intentionally devise the bugs in order to make Sora triumph over the “pain”?

Nomura: That occurring wasn’t part of Namine’s intentions. She couldn’t predict that Sora Heartless would take charge and bring about a crisis like that.

I see… Roxas appears dressed in the black coat in Castle Oblivion among other worlds too. Was that something else that Namine had not added intentionally?

Nomura: Right. Since Roxas and Sora together make up one existence, if there is a Sora made of Kingdom Hearts I data, then data of Roxas must exist too. Roxas says, “It’s my personal duty to check whether or not Sora is ready to take the pain.” However that role was not assigned by Namine, Roxas personally decided that goal and acted upon it accordingly.

Who was the person taken from the data of Jiminy’s Journal that took the form of Riku in the data world?

Nomura: That wasn’t someone from the real world’s data, more like that was the data itself taking on the body of Riku in order to avoid being eroded by the bugs.

When each world is completely debugged, a scene is shown that was not seen in Kingdom Hearts I. Did those scenes occur at the same point in time as Kingdom Hearts I?

Nomura: Yes, they were memories deep in the data of the worlds recorded in Jiminy’s Journal, however as a result of Data Riku searching after the worlds were debugged, they were tangible to the King and company.

In the final chapter of Hollow Bastion, it happens in the story that if the Jiminy Journal is completely debugged, then the existence recorded in the data will be erased. Then why is it even if Data Sora doesn’t remember, Data Riku’s memories remain?

Nomura: Data Sora became an existence whose purpose was to go about debugging, so at the point in time when he had completely debugged the data his memories were gone. In Data Riku’s case, it existed in the main data even without the Jiminy Journal itself being erased, and since its purpose was to solve the mystery first written in the journal, it couldn’t fulfill it until the debugging was complete. Once the mystery was solved, it too would lose its memories.

Throughout playing the lines “Restoration Rate X%” appears a few times, when it reaches 100% Sora Heartless begins to run amok. Does that number represent the growth condition of Sora Heartless?

Nomura: In Kingdom Hearts II, Sora’s memory restoration rate was expressed that way. In this case it’s basically showing how much of the data world was restored thanks to Sora. However it’s also like an indicator of Sora Heartless’ growth since it grew at the same time as Sora exterminated the bugs.

After debugging Traverse Town, the King says to Sora, “That day, your travels began here. Also on that day, I was here too.” Does that mean that the King was in the same place at the same time as Sora adventured into Traverse Town in Kingdom Hearts I?

Nomura: Seems so. What he was actually doing becomes the previously mentioned “blank time period”, but in this title, it’s implying that the two crossed paths in the same place.

As for the story, the curtain has closed on Sora finally saying “thank you” to Namine. In your Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix Ultimania interview, you mentioned that Sora not having yet thanked Namine was foreshadowing the future. Is that matter considered settled now?

Nomura: Although it can’t really be said that it’s completely settled since they haven’t exchanged words in the real world, there’s naturally that implication. This time it’s the data of Sora from before Chain of Memories saying thanks, however it shows there was a special connection beyond the passage of time between Sora and Namine. Additionally, it gives a contradictory answer to the implication that data existences don’t have hearts shown in the story.

I’m going to ask about the Secret Movie now. Yen Sid tells, “With Ansem and Xemnas defeated, it means Master Xehanort will be revived.” When Yen Sid explained about Organization XIII in Kingdom Hearts II, did he know this at that point in time?

Nomura: He knew, but it couldn’t be avoided. At that time Xemnas existed as the main threat, so nothing could be done until he was defeated.

“If you release the heart of the Heartless and annihilate the body of the Nobody, then the real form will be revived.” If those conditions are met, can others outside of Xehanort be revived too?

Nomura: It can be considered a possibility. Although it’s what-if speaking, I think that if the members of Organization XIII were restored, they would become there true form.

Though he’s a member of Organization XIII, Axel is shown in the end of Re:Coded in the memories of “pain”…

Nomura: Since healing the necessary “pain” of Axel’s is different than with other people, if he is revived he will take a form like Xehanort’s. In the end of the story, Namine says, “Those whose memories are sleeping inside Sora need relief.” In the Birth by Sleep secret cutscene “Blank Points”, certain characters call out to Sora, however in that scene Axel is the only one who appears and doesn’t say Sora’s name out loud.

Speaking of the Birth by Sleep secret cutscene, Ansem the Wise says that he hid his research results in Sora. This complies with what happens in Re:Coded when Namine says DiZ (Ansem the Wise) has hid something inside Sora. Is that mystery remaining unsolved?

Nomura: Yes. Namine added data to the Jiminy Journal in order to convey that the “pain” of those connected to Sora must be healed, but at the point in time Ansem hid the research results inside Sora, he didn’t know that. Accordingly, Ansem’s research results will become the key to healing the “pain” in the future of the story.

So even though Namine and Ansem acted independently, as a result of what the two did, it leads to one thing. And speaking of those details…

Nomura: Since that will likely become the story for Kingdom Hearts III, please look forward to that until then.

According to the NP writers, the Bug Blocks are now known as "Blox". I've seen them called by this name by multiple sources (eurogamer, etc.), but I don't think we should take it as fact until we get a screenshot that says so (Trust me, I've been looking. About 50 screens in the NP special, and no mention of "Blox". ARG ARG ARG) Anyway, thoughts?

Mostly it is due to the fact that the story lacks significant importance in the grand scheme of things. Essentially, all of it is just data.

They (well, Data-they) appear in Castle Oblivion after you obtain every Ending Card (including the Castle Oblivion one; meaning you've beaten the game) and give you a Debug Device: Y and a Heat Sink Belt. Message

Ok, i'm officially confused. On the wiki, it says that Mickey digitised the journal because of the mysterious message "We must return to free them from their torment". But in the game, isn't it "Their hurting will be mended, when you return to end it"?Heartless Emblem.pngDarkheart3 Nobody.png

In coded the message was "We must return to free them form their torment" however in Re:coded it was changed to "Their hurting will be mended, when you return to end it". However, because Re:coded is a remake, codes is taken as the more canonical version. Evnyofdeath 03:44, January 29, 2011 (UTC)

Actually, remakes are considered most canonical, since they've been "fixed" to make sure they agree with other games. For example, KHFM's Unknown battle."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 20:21, January 30, 2011 (UTC)

Enemy Stats

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get them? There's no guide, but is it possible to get them out of the game itself? 71.92.202.190 17:41, 12 March 2011 (EST)

Wouldn't there be a game guide for the game? Or would the Ultimania hold the stats? Erry 23:10, 12 March 2011 (EST)

There is a Japanese Ultimania, but there are no scans posted for most of its bestiary (right now, we just have Data-Roxas's stats, which isn't even enough to modify the Enemy template). If someone can get the Ultimania and post comprehensive scans, we could get to work."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 04:53, 13 March 2011 (EDT)

I was surprised when I found out there wasn't a guide for this game. The only other game to not have an English guide is Re:CoM. (but CoM had a guide, so I guess that kinda makes up for it) 71.92.202.190 22:46, 27 March 2011 (EDT)
