that's not the right reason exactly. it's important to note that katakana aids often use arabic numerals when the display title calls for a roman numeral... final fantasy is one of the biggest exceptions. here, square enix explicitly prints "2.5" just about everywhere besides the logo, in every language, regardless of whatever else. ''that'' is why "II.5" is a stylization. it's silly--that's inconsistent branding for multiple reasons--but it's what they did, so...
