  • Naminé: These are hidden truths that Sora has been keeping locked away deep inside him. Remember, these memories aren't his.
(sees Namine and Xion)
  • Sora: Naminé, that's you! Who's the other girl? She feels so...familiar...and... W-wow, something terrible happened, didn't it?
  • Naminé: These people are waiting for Sora--the only one who can put an end to their hurt. DiZ told me...he hid something inside you during the year you were asleep. I asked him what, and all he would say was that he was "clearing his conscience." Sora must be the key to saving the people you saw...and the ones you're about to see.
(sees Terra, Ventus, Aqua)
  • Mickey: It can't be!
  • Naminé: Mickey, maybe you know how much they're hurting. These three were keys, too. They were connected to the truth behind the Keyblade. And, they're still connected, Sora, somewhere way down deep inside of you.
  • Sora: Funny, I feel as though...I've met them.
  • Naminé: Yes, two of them, you have met. As for the third...I never realized it, but...you and he share a very special connection.
  • Sora: Yeah...
  • Mickey: Naminé. You said Sora has to call these memories to the surface. Is it time?
  • Naminé (shaking her head): I can't say for sure. But I do know a day will come when they must rise from their sleep. And then, the only one who can save them...will be Sora.
  • Mickey: The bond they all share--that's gonna be the key, right? Don't worry, Naminé. I'll make sure I pass this on to Sora--you know, the one in the outside world!

  • Ansem: How long has it been since I met him? At least a year now, perhaps more... Back then, my heart was clouded with vengeance. I did terrible things...both to him and his friends. I brought unhappiness to more lives than one. I felt something must be done. Was that why? A means of clearing my conscience? Or perhaps, out of a sort of scholarly instinct? While the boy slept his long sleep, I hid the results of my research inside him, transplanting the data to where it might best serve a purpose. In fact, I would like to believe... Maybe he can set things right. A boy like him who touches so many hearts--he could open the right door, and save all those people whose lives I managed to ruin. So many are still waiting for their new beginning, their birth by sleep. Even me...and even you.

(Riku picks up bottle at shore)
  • Riku: What's this?
  • ?????: You were not the visitor I expected.
  • Riku: DiZ! I mean... Ansem the Wise. What are you doing here?
  • Ansem the Wise: Perhaps I wanted to atone for events of the past, even if no apology can undo the harm I have wrought. I felt...that I ought to leave at least something behind. So I digitized myself and my research, and hid them within Sora.
  • Riku: So this is...data?
  • Ansem the Wise: Yes. A clue, I hope, to finding yourselves or your lost friends in your hour of need. The heart has always been quick to grow. Each exposure to light, to the natural world, to other people, shapes this most malleable part inside of us. Nobodies are not different from us in that manner. Sora was the only one able to return to his human form without destroying his Nobody. That is a statement to the love in his heart for other people, and the bonds that tie them together. Perhaps...he has the power to bring back the hearts and existences of those connected to him--to recreate people we thought were lost to us forever. Our most precious treasures--even an empty puppet--the trees of the forest, and the petals on the wind--there are hearts around us everywhere we look. And it does not take superhuman powers to see them. Surely we remember as children the way our hearts made everything seem so shiny, and perfect. Sora has a heart like that--uncorrupted, willing to see the good before the bad. When he sees the heart in something, it then becomes real. When a connection seems broken, he may have the power to mend it. He has touched countless hearts, he has accepted them, and he has saved them. And some of those hearts have never left him--whether they fell into darkness or were trapped there--whether they sleep in the darkness of Sora's heart, or were welcomed into its warmth--they can be saved. All Sora needs to do is be himself and follow wherever it is that his heart takes him. It is the best and the only way. The rest is in there.
  • (Ansem the Wise): The wise man who once ruled over Radiant Garden. His apprentices stole his research into the heart and brought chaos to the worlds. The real Ansem expired while trying to thwart Organization XIII's dark plans. He has left some sort of "data" inside Sora's memories.
  • Riku's eyes blinked open. He was home, on their island. Figures appeared asking difficult questions: Roxas; another boy who looked like Roxas; a girl with raven hair. He sensed his answers mattered. When his eyes next blinked open, he found himself in the company of Ansem the Wise. Ansem the Wise gave Riku his research data, which he hoped would serve as a clue when Sora or those connected to him were most lost. The love in Sora's heart would be the only way to save them. With that, the true Ansem assured Riku that Sora had awoken. It was time to go home.

  • I have poured over the data my master entrusted to Riku. Here, I offer my preliminary conclusions.

Within Sora's heart are three compartmentalized "boxes," each containing the heart of another. One box holds Roxas. Another holds a second heart that has been with Sora nearly as long. The third has held its heart for much longer. These hearts have melded with Sora's and no longer have voices of their own. Any attempt to mechanically extract them could prove as dire for Sora as what caused him to become a Heartless in the first place. First, a vessel for each heart must be readied. Then, a spark of some sort is required to induce its waking. Obviously, the ideal solution is to restore each heart to its own body, but (whatever the case for the two unknown individuals) Roxas possesses no such thing. The same is true for Naminé, who we believe resides in Kairi's heart. Still, if alternate bodies can be secured for them, all their hearts require to be awakened is that "spark"—people they cared for and who cared for them, who can show them the way home. Complete and perfect digitization of the heart is impossible. We can only hope to partially reconstruct it. Thus, I see no way forward but to extract the hearts we so desperately need from within Sora. Fortunately, the data stored in Twilight Town contains a near-perfect record of the memories of those who lived there—and for Roxas and Naminé especially, this is crucial.—Ienzo

  • As for how to contain their hearts, the only conceivable option is the replicas. If we transfer in the digital memories from the Twilight Town archive, the replicas should be able to reconstruct each individual's human appearance with near-perfect results. Then, their hearts need only the right spark to wake them, so they may find their way out of Sora and Kairi and into those newly made bodies. The Replica Program was truly revolutionary, but it was incomplete at the time of the old Organization's dissolution. Without Even, how are we to further the research? We need only three replicas: one for Roxas, one for Naminé, and one for the unknown stowaway within Sora's heart. These are difficult quandaries, but as I work through my master's data, I find myself remembering the taste of ice cream. When I was a boy, he would bring me some when we took walks together. There will be time to regret my betrayal later. For now, my focus must be on restoring Roxas and Naminé and proving my master had good intentions.—Ienzo
